The times I’ve seen him do broadcasts I enjoyed his insight.Because he knows he’s good at it? If his broadcasting is anything like his acting in the AFLAC commercials, then it may not be pretty. His acting makes the cast of Saved By The Bell look like like Oscar nominees.
LOL. Seriously though those coaches change their demeanor when they’re on set as a studio analyst. Look at all the former HC w/ seemingly zero charisma transition to a studio show. Chip Kelly, Chris Peterson, Urban Meyer were all as stoic as they come but all have been serviceable analysts. It’s crazy to see them laugh & smile so I think when they know they’re not going to be at risk of a “gotcha” question by media then can lower their veil & be themselves. Urban Meyer is actually enjoyable listening to when talking Xs & Os. I suspect Saban will be as well. Did y’all see Belichick on Gameday for Army vs Navy? He was still stiff as a board but actually showed he was human. I was shocked. LOL..Because he knows he’s good at it? I read that Michigan has 2 five stars on their team. Alabama has 16.
Harbaugh almost won a superbowl. Saban bailed out meekly.
You guys tell me who the better coach is.

The one who has 7 national titles
Off top of head, JJ, Edwards, and Johnson the corner we're all 5 stars. Wasn't Mcgregor (DE) too? And not a single OL? 2 doesn't sound rightI read that Michigan has 2 five stars on their team. Alabama has 16.

Nobody said Saban wasn't a great coach or recruiter.
But once other teams could also buy players and they could transfer, suddenly he didn't look so invincible.
Harbaugh kicked his ass.
You’re just trolling at this point, harbaugh and saban are both really good coaches but the amount of championships still have to mean something. That is the name of the game afterallGreat program builder. Great coach and recruiter. He no longer has all of tge advantages and is bailing, just like the NFL. You guys probably think John Wooden is tge greatest basketball coach ever too.
Harbaugh kicked his ass with far far less.
Harbaugh’s team had 44 seniors including 26 that are 5th year or more. The team they beat in the title had 0 5 stars using your logic.
Are you discounting all the wins that Saban has against UGA, Clemson, LSU, OSU, etc that have had comparable amounts of 5 stars?
Harbaugh is a great coach. Implying he’s better than Saban is counterproductive to proving that point because it is that absurd.

Saban's been interesting and engaging when doing analysis on TV. I think most people get too caught up in the image of the guy doing pressers where he's blunt and sometimes grumpy and rude, and forget that that was always about 90% schtick for effect and to send messages to his players. Dozens of his former players swear he's very personable and funny as hell in private. He'll do fine as an ESPN analyst.LOL. Saban lost to those teams as well.
No it's really not. I'm not talking who built the greatest dynasty. Who has the most accomplished career.Who got the most talent. I'm talking you take two coaches and two teams with similar talent, skill time to prepare, resources, etc. You take Saban and Harbaugh to coach them and I'm taking Harbaugh. He also proved that he could do it with professionals. Something Saban could not.
I’d love it if he did TV work because I would love to hear his thoughts and analysis on the game of football, particularly college football. I may be in the minority, but I enjoy smart football talk because I enjoy the game of football. I don’t enjoy the Pat McAfee’s of the world and his type of shtick. Nothing against you if you do enjoy that, just not my thing.Saban's been interesting and engaging when doing analysis on TV. That's so far removed from the skillset of being a college head coach that you might as well just be claiming that Harbaugh would beat him in an arm wrestling contest. It's reductive to the point of being asinine.
The whole point of Saban is the program he built. Yes, if you remove all that I'm sure he's not the greatest GameDay coach of all time. So what? If you have to create a hypothetical situation that doesn't reflect reality in order for your initial assertion to not be stupid, it's still pretty stupid.
I agree with that sentiment but find it amusing coming from our resident SEC pole polisher.I'm just not kissing his ass like so many on here on a Notre Dame forum. Feel free to kiss away
He’s won 7 national championships as a coach in college football, he’s one of the greatest to ever do it. That’s not kissing his ass that’s just reality
For now, Saban is the best college football coach of all time. But I do think Harbaugh is an elite football coach who’s had undeniable success at both levels. Harbaugh is 12 years younger, he has a chance to win a couple more titles if he coaches for another 10-12 years. He’s probably gonna leave for the NFL though, and if he did, I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually won a Super BowlI agree. He's one of the best. Final comment. End thread
I’d say what Belichick accomplished in the NFL is more difficult as it’s a sport designed to prevent dynasties. Can’t think of another that went on a run (3 Super Bowls), then retooled the entire roster (minus Brady) and won another 3. Phil Jackson won more. Coach K won 5. Not sure if you’re just talking American sports but I’m sure there are others. Saban is definitely the best college football coach in the last 30 years.Saban is likely the greatest coach of any sport in the modern era (call it last 30 years). He's undoubtedly the greatest ever in his own sport.
