Rees to LSU is the most likely
Even if Tommy's the best available candidate - which he may well be - feels like that would get some serious side eye at LSU. Also Rees has learned what he can learn from BK. Why would he go there if he had other options?
There's gonna be a ton of NFL turnover and I'd bet he lands as either a QB coach or an OC there.

I'll run across the field naked at halftime first home game if Rees gets the bama job

I think the administration turned the corner and are finally playing big ball now.

I don’t see us losing another coach unless they want them to leave.

I hope that’s the case. Supporting Freeman financially and through infrastructure should keep him at Notre Dame and away from any job that isn’t Ohio State.

I don’t know that they could prevent that one from happening, but I’d at least understand why.

Freeman also has not yet won enough to be a top candidate for any elite job other than perhaps Ohio State. We took a chance on him b/c we'd seen him up close, but he'd be a huge gamble/hard sell to most other programs at our level.
That could change a year from now and, say, USC backs up a truck - in which case I hope you are correct - but right now it doesn't feel like we're in any real danger of a poaching.

Bama would be better off with an unemployed NFL coach like Vrabel than like half the names being thrown around out there.
Isn’t the coaching search thing such a nightmare as fans? Bama hasn’t experienced getting rejected by their top dream picks and exploring a bunch of names their fans hate in an eternity.

Vrabel would not need to be surrounded by state troopers if he's a college head coach. He'd have it covered.

vrabel is going to get another NFL job, he doesn’t strike me as a college coach
This. Left it all behind ten years ago.

It will come down to how much roster control he wants and what team is willing to give it to him, but I don't see him going back to that level now more than ever.

I think Tommy jumps to the NFL once offensive coordinators start getting hired for head coaching jobs. Could see the Texans being a landing spot.

What has Tommy Rees done to warrant an NFL job?

He calls a legitimately good game, is able to scheme his stars open, does a decent job at making a drive script, and does okay with halftime adjustments.

His issue is not adapting to his players’ skill sets, instead trying to have his players adapt to what he wants.

You could see that Saban did what BK generally wouldn’t with Rees, and had him switch things up to fit Milroe’s skill set during the year.

If he’s less than great at talent evaluation, but can coach a scheme with the best of them… he might be okay in the NFL.

Honestly, Kyren Williams killing it in McVay’s system might be the best part of Tommy’s NFL resume

This isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement. He’s done absolutely nothing tangible to earn a job as an OC job in the NFL. His offenses over his 4 years just haven’t been good enough.

Idk, the 2022 ND offense was pretty damn good in the context of its limitations. Tommy found ways to get Mayer open consistently, despite the opposition knowing exactly where the ball was going in passing situations. That’s not easy to do, even at the college level.

The 2022 offense also was an absolute disaster the first 3 weeks of the season. They started off 1-2, almost 0-3 and the offense was a huge reason why.

Agree and it's an even bigger point when considering how many college OCs end up in the NFL as OC. Monken and BoB are obvious, but both coordinated offenses in the NFL previously. Thomas Brown for Carolina was OC at Miami but spent years in the NFL as a position coach before getting OC gig. Same with Getsy for the Bears.

Point is Tommy will likely have to be position coach in NFL before he gets to be OC.
