Lost on the chaos, Mike Frank mentioned that he expects there to be news about facilities upgrades. Also mentioned it to be bigger than what he anticipated. It was on the latest power hour.

So we now have boosters that are willing to pay for players with the best of em AND a facilities upgrade bigger than anticipated? When is ND joining the SEC?

What I pieced together from various 247 non-staff posts is that the NIL collective basically broke off from the one Brady Quinn ran because they didn't want to pussyfoot around it. Seems like that collective is now the swinging richard in NIL world.

You joke (or do you??), but ND's surprising success with the transfer portal and NIL for current players, rather than recruits, combined with the new NCAA president's movement towards what is legitimately pay-for-play at this point, shows that ND might be changing their tune on the "two divisions" thing.

JS has long said that if NCAA football turns into pay-for-play, which would essentially mean college football is minor leagues (even though he's kind of naive in missing that it basically already is), that ND would split off and stick with the academic-minded institutions with no interest in pay-for-play.

ND's latest movements and success could be viewed as evidence to the contrary, though. We'll see!

Good. There are far too many people in the ND football sphere that refuse to believe the evidence of what is needed to compete in college football in 2023 and beyond.

Does anyone know the name of the collective/who is running things?

FUND (Friends of the University of Notre Dame).

It was started by Brady Quinn but as Free Manera stated, he was recently pushed aside. A bit unclear on who exactly is involved anymore and their website has removed a lot of the information it used to have. What's clear is they're not operating like the other collectives in CFB and are relying on big money boosters and targeted fundraising drives, rather than pushing for your everyday fan to sign up.

Ahh, I thought the insinuation was that a new collective broke off from FUND. Got it.

Yes one of the other takeaways I had was that they don't even bother with small donations. You can't even donate without an invitation and the minimum initial investment is pretty large.

Not soon enough. Would love to see ND go BIG, would like to see them go SEC. ACC and Independence are already dead.
I was excited when you started the thread about Independence so we didn't have to listen to you constantly regurgitating the same shit it every thread.... I see we are back to the old ways again.

I wonder how much influence the new AD has in this?

Big money, anti-administration, title hungry boosters start hedge "FU ND".

I dig.
If any school had a solid base of accredited investors it would be ND.

I made the case before that ND could REALLY do well in this space by having a Collective that essentially operates in a way that a typical PE or HF would operate.
1) Strong stewardship - You would have ND grads that oversee the investments.
2) Maintain the spirit of an transfer of services/value between the players and collective - You have the players intern or work at the Fund to receive NIL payments
3) Player benefits outside of cash - Players will receive mentorship and actual job experience
4) Transparency - The ease of preparing audited financial statements to show proof of concept to prospective athlete's and to administrators
5) Financial stability - With the Fund being an actual financial instrument(s) there is a built in mechanism to maintain capital in the Fund and have long term stability.
6) Financial benefit to investors - Unlike other collectives, a performance fee if the Fund reaches a highwater mark that will be paid out to Fund holders. In addition to supporting the athletes investors actually get a kickback.

Anyways, that's my NIL manifesto for ND to break this shit open. I have no idea if that's legal to do in Indiana, but I'm sure someone that's up for reelection could try to push it through.

My understanding as well is it is self sufficient… think it’s run much like the endowment where returns and dividends are reinvested and then compounded
