These continued posts are starting to make you look foolish, and I say that in the nicest way possible. They retained him and let him sink this year for them after he was the reasom they squandered a Heisman winning season from on of the most prolific arm talents in college football recent history. The guy was notoriously bad at OU long before even going to USC.
Im not sure what point you’re even trying to make, but behaving like they acted swiftly and appropriately in a way that ND has not done after 1 year with a guy who struggled bs USC letting a guy with a long history of failure as a DC tank multiple seasons for them is just dumb for lack of a better word.
Let me know where I indicated they moved swiftly. The point is pure and simple - USC made their program better this week by addressing a glaring hole. Notre Dame seemingly refuses to do so.

They potentially made it better. It’s not guaranteed. SC was supposed to be “back” this year. We’ll see.

Texas A&M just got much easier next year, I have a feeling. Elijah Robinson is headed to Syracuse. He was supposedly the one holding the team together, and was the lead recruiter on their vaunted defensive line class of 2022. Curious what type of turnover they’re going to have

Maybe not the best thread for this follow up but since you mentioned Robinson leaving… big loss for them.

I really like Curt Cignetti's attitude coming into Indiana... He's got a plan to attack the portal but still knows HS recruits are the foundation, doesn't care about the ranking sites and how many starts they give players, and has already offered the #1 '26 player and QB from GA, Julian Lewis (it helped that his QB coach, Tino Sunseri, started a relationship w/ him when still at AL) and instead of talking in a fake Indiana accent, he yelled out in front of the IU basketball team, “I don’t take a backseat to anybody and don’t plan on starting now,” Cignetti told the audience at Assembly Hall. “Purdue sucks! But so does Michigan and Ohio State!” Now he has his work cut out in the new, tougher expanded Big 10, but I'm rooting for him and hope he does big things at IU! (And maybe he can be ND's next coach if MF doesn't work out.

I like the Indiana and Houston hires. Cignetti and Fritz are both guys who can coach ball. They're in their early 60s so probably not going anywhere soon to where they can get your program stability within the next 3-5 years and stick around as these jobs are respective big payouts at the Power Five level that both men have been waiting on.

Kinda sucks for Tulane though. I was in NOLA early November and heard quite a few people talking about how excited they were for Tulane football; but such is the order of things. People should know their place

Sucks for me too. Have to assume that Nagle is going with him to UH?

11 million for the coaching staff... wow

Just saw that Elko is going to be hiring a number of coaches that he has worked with in the past. We so have this game in the bag now, cause we all know that is a failure by head coaches...

MF's problem isn't hiring his friends. His problem is he has about the smallest coaching circle ever because he's way too new.

If Saban hires his friends (he doesn't), he's choosing the best from about 500 contacts. MF is choosing his favorite 5 of about 5.

Seems more authentic than the good ol boy stuff you generally get. He didn't go the "Purdue sucks and so does Michigan" route.

First time head coach. Did not have an associate's or coordinator at Georgia....Pretty risky hire.

Hiring a guy with recruiting chops at a team that has zero draw recruiting wise seems like a very, very odd fit.

Idk about that, Brown is hitting the ground running. Koy Beasley is probably gonna flip from Purdue, Hornsby from A&M, and get Kingjoseph Edwards. Cuse probably has decent NIL infrastructure in place too relative to their usual recruiting rivals.

That said Syracuse is an absolute terrible place to visit the majority of the year lol.

Black coach. Early 40s. Never been a coordinator. Good recruiter. First time head coach. In THIS economy?

He said "I'm here for life", which ultimately gets put to the test if he succeeds and the bigger programs come calling. I suppose that bridge gets crossed upon arrival. He's from Camden, NJ which is about as local to Syracuse as you can get in this economy.

Brown has first person connections to former Syracuse coaches Paul Pasqualoni and George DeLeone. He nailed the interview and hit a home run with alumni. It ain't what you know, it's who you know.

He's bringing in NY Giants RB Coach Jeff Nixon to be his OC. Nixon was Co OC at Baylor from 2017-19 and has been in The League since then.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head football coach Nick Saban announced the addition of defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tommy Rees and inside linebackers coach Austin Armstrong to the Crimson Tide coaching staff for the 2023 season on Monday.

"We are excited to bring in such a gifted group of coaches to develop our players both on and off the field," Saban said. "Kevin, Tommy and Austin have a great mix of energy, enthusiasm and experience that will be a tremendous asset to our program. They are all excellent teachers of the game and fantastic recruiters who bring a wealth of experience and resources to our staff."

Steele, a veteran defensive coordinator with 39 years of coaching experience, begins his third stint on the Alabama coaching staff after calling the defense at Miami in 2022. Steele served as the defensive coordinator at Alabama in 2007 and was the associate head coach and head defensive coach for the Crimson Tide in 2008. He returned to the Capstone in 2013 as the Director of Player Personnel before coaching the Tide's inside linebacker in 2014.

"My history with Coach Saban goes back a long time and what he has built here at Alabama is truly amazing," Steele said. "I understand the high expectations of both Coach Saban and the program, and I am looking forward to helping continue that success."

You missed the point I'm making. Yes, Saban has hired friends. No, that isn't a comparison to MF because Saban has 20X the friends to choose from.

Yes, but your point is ridiculous. Comparing Freeman to the greatest coach in college football history is bad enough, but a coach that is in his late thirties to a coach that is in his seventies is completely ludicrous. You picked the two absolute extreme situations to compare to each other. It's a horrible way to make your point.
