As a kid I could rattle off every single player on ND roster, as an adult I’m going to be lucky to know who’s starting.

Maybe I’m being dramatic or having kids and a life has changed things but college football and Notre Dame in general are starting to be harder to give a whole lot of shits about. The portal certainly isn’t helping

One of the big money donors needs to get all of the power players (Jenkins, Savvy Jack, Pete, MF) in the same room and say, "Here's a blank check. Fire/Demote Parker and go swing our dick and get the best OC and best WR coach that we can buy."
That's how they do it at Texas A& M and Auburn. Great idea if you like missing your goals every year.

Some of you need to put your big boy pants and big girl pants on, though, wrt the outbound portal.

The transfer portal goes both ways. ND can make it work for them and be better at the end of the day. I just don't like that the news we hear is not what is happening.

That said, we bitched about the WR's all year, and now we're crying that the coach and 1) a guy that can't catch a cold 2) an unproven prospect 3) a guy who had like 1 good game and a couple maybe ok games and 4) the grad student RB turned WR are leaving? Come on.
You are wrong. ND will lose a Portal Shoot-out as ND will not take many kids from the Portal. Here in this case we are losing Freshmen and Sophomores that already got through ND Admissions as prep kids. ND doesn't easily give transfer credits.

So this is a mess. Its a mess especially for ND.

You do realize there are a lot of Wideouts in the portal at the moment that have already graduated? Yes we have trouble taking juniors and seniors but freshman and sophomore's are not that difficult now. The good thing for Notre Dame is a lot of players now have degrees after 3 years. Its common for them to take the bulk of their classes in the summer and spring.

Getting toward that idiocracy stage in the “developed” world. Hell kids are already wearing pajamas to school. Like the 14-18 yr olds.

Not just the preschoolers
And in the 60's kids grew their hair long, didnt tuck in their shirts, had promiscuous sex, and wore excessively baggy clothes. Oh the horror!! You all sound like old geezers fartin to your death in the retirement home.

Can someone go over to Irish Illustrated and rein those assholes in a little bit lol?

The dumbest part of this is that Grant took more chances than ANYONE in the Civil War.

He had an epic failure when he trusted his engineers to tunnel under the Conderates & dynamite upwards into them.

He had a loss crossing a confederate forest taking a chance.

He failed in a siege.

All these failures taught Grant invaluable lessons that then allowed him to dominate Lee, even with lesser men & resources at times.

Didn’t anyone watch the History Channel 3 Part Documentary, “Grant,” a few years ago?

From a good source one thing some of these younger underclassmen aren't happy about is the fact you got fans on here wanting to bring in this WR transfer and that transfer.

It sucks, but it's the game of college football. Everyone from coaches to players are always looking to move up and around. Loyalty is out the window. One thing lost in the thought process, or maybe it's considered, is you are one play away from never playing again. Where is the parental guidance for these kids? You're not all going to the League, so get a degree, make contacts and set yourself up for whatever comes your way.

They are transferring because fans want transfers in?
No part of the issue is recruiting over guys for example maybe half the guys on the team are on board for keeping what we have at QB and developing them instead of hitting the portal 3 out of the last 4 years. Some people are for it others are against it. It is what it is. But how would you feel if your Braylon James you just lost your coach who your close with then you go on here and see fans wanting to bring in a top WR?

I said this to some friends last night.

I long for the days of Ara and Lou when kids were happy to play for a scholly, kept their heads down and mouths shut.

Those players know fuck all about running a major college football program. They are either good enough and confident enough to compete or they can go play in the MAC.

I'm on board to bringing in guys to compete but WR is in a world of hurt right now if we don't land at least 1 difference maker who can contribute right away and probally 1-2 depth guys. Right now we are screwed for the bowl game. You'll have Colzie who IDK if he will even play, Thomas, Greathouse, and Faison. I guess Smith can play if he is healthy .

Alternatively, how would you feel if you are Braylon James and we are so thin at WR that your fellow WR classmates are starting, but that coach you're so close to can't help you develop your natural talent enough to even get on the field. Maybe the answer is a better WR coach.

Marcus Freeman and his staff wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t constantly trying to improve the roster.

If the receivers weren’t fucking terrible at their job, they wouldn’t have worry about guys coming in through the portal. We don’t see Mickens trying to add through the portal.

Which is why I'm fine with a few guys leaving. To be honest you land Riley Leonard and a established WR coach you should be able to get at least two productive WR's in the portal. I don't attend practices but Faison, Colzie (when Healthy), Greathouse, Thomas those 4 are better than any of the guys who left so far. Tobias maybe was getting wide open but had issues dropping the ball, Tyree came on late but also dropped balls in key moments this year. James probally wasn't happy Faison was getting playing time over him well there's gotta be a reason for that? Faison looks like he will be a stud just needs to add 10-15 lbs of muscle. You got 4 guys coming back plus Smith, and 3 Freshman who I think can all play right away if needed at least Williams and Gilbert. Evans will most likely be back at TE.

I think the WR rooms comes out of this stronger in 2024 than before any transfers. I say 2024 cause we only take GT's and the benefit to young guys is multiple years of depth.

If we start 2024 with Thomas, Colzie, Fiason, Greathouse (all experienced), add in a year 2 KK Smith, a year 1 Cam Williams, and TWO starter level transfers...

We're better off than Tobias Fairyweather and Rico (2 experienced guys will bring in experience Rico is leaving with). I am personally not high at all on Tyree. Love the guy but he never fit anywhere and was always good for a key drop or fumble every other game.

Tuck your dicks in and let MF do the one thing he can do - oversell a product.

I bet our 2024 WR improves with these departures.
