Has anything been said by freeman about a new S&C coach?
National search before ultimately hiring his nanny's nephew as a favor.Has anything been said by freeman about a new S&C coach?
The organic humor from ND inevitably fumbling itself is all that keeps me going during these dark times.National search before ultimately hiring his nanny's nephew as a favor.

But I’m not concerned with most P5 teams. We need to take the next step.I feel like that's most P5 teams, especially this year.
Are we concerned with hiring one of their coodinators, though? But I’m not concerned with most P5 teams. We need to take the next step.
It is quite entertaining to watch each college football fan base just completely break into histrionics about how bad this is or how awful that is for their own team and completely ignore how other teams are often in the same situation. Every year there is a new can't miss, up and coming position coach/coordinator that actually misses the very next season. Are we concerned with hiring one of their coodinators, though?
A year ago a lot of people wanted Tommy Rees gone and didn't know WTF Andy Ludwig was. Suddenly a year later a lot of the same people can't wait to jettison Parker so they can wind up with what would probably be someone they've never heard of because names like Dan Mullen, Tom Herman and Brian Hartline are completely ridiculous non realistic options that are just stupid suggestions. It is quite entertaining to watch each college football fan base just completely break into histrionics about how bad this is or how awful that is for their own team and completely ignore how other teams are often in the same situation. Al Golden came with an impressive resume - both in college and in the NFL. So while it may not have been viewed as a flashy hire by some, anyone paying attention would have loved the hire. Especially with him fresh off a Super Bowl appearance. Which part of Parker's resume is most impressive to you?A year ago a lot of people wanted Tommy Rees gone and didn't know WTF Andy Ludwig was. Let's be honest, nobody was overly excited about the Al Golden hire. Now everyone wants to pass the collection plate after communion to give the guy a raise so he never leaves.
Whoever the assistant coaches are come August, we're all going to be out here posting and watching games, doing the same goofy shit we've been doing.
His failure as an OC at West Virginia is pretty exciting....seriously though I don't buy that he can learn and become better. He was an OC before and he's still not better.Al Golden came with an impressive resume - both in college and in the NFL. Parker does thatI just want an OC that will play 5 OL, 4 TEs and 1 RB and QB.
Yep, if we found out parker was the best recruiter on the offensive staff, and a CO OC role with Gino/Rudolph would allow us to have one of the best offensive recruiting staffs in the country i'd get it. Other than solid TE coach, parker hasn't shown anything anywhere.Al Golden came with an impressive resume - both in college and in the NFL. He got fired by Miami and was anonymously coaching in the NFL until he came to Notre Dame. I repeat -- I understand why some didn't view it as a flashy hire. However, it can't be argued against that he had an impressive college and NFL resume to his name prior to coming here. You know he was a successful DC and HC elsewhere before failing at Miami (where everyone since Jimmy Johnson has failed), right? He got fired by Miami and was anonymously coaching in the NFL until he came to Notre Dame. He wasn't anyone's first choice and if receipts can't be produced to prove otherwise, it's bullshit.
His 0-6 record at Purdue.I repeat -- I understand why some didn't view it as a flashy hire. I also repeat -- what was your favorite part of Parker's resume prior to being elevated to ND OC?
Don't be bringing level headed constructive discussion to this board. It is quite entertaining to watch each college football fan base just completely break into histrionics about how bad this is or how awful that is for their own team and completely ignore how other teams are often in the same situation. Yet most still wanted him gone last year when RZ defense was terrible and blitzes were telegraphed from another area code. AGAIN (for the 3rd time) -- he had a resume, he was worth the benefit of the doubt because of what he had proven already in the past. JFC. LMK when/where Parker earned the same benefit...Yet most still wanted him gone last year when RZ defense was terrible and blitzes were telegraphed from another area code. My simplistic takeaway on this is that we’ve got to get better at eliminating the “head scratching” losses and get better at closing out close games but overall the product on the field is pretty darn solid.
Yes, I know Al Golden's resume prior to Miami.
Second, I don't have a favorite part about Parker's goddamned resume. He got hired, I moved on with fandom and life, I'm finished relitigating that situation.
The point was made that every other fan base thinks they're witnessing a "disaster" or a "dumpster fire." It's very relative. I doubt many Penn State fans would endorse Marcus Freeman hiring Yurcich, but my guess is a lot of people here would want Marcus to buy low on him now just to appease their own frustration only to watch a fresh batch of new ones blossom within 12 months.
I get the hyperbole, I'm just not going to participate in it.
I remember many were very happy with the hire. He brought years of Defensive expertise, was finishing up a Super Bowl run when it was announced he was the likely choice, and had previous head coaching experience that many thought could help guide the first time head coach. There are threads here. Nobody was clamoring for Al Golden to be hired prior to it actually happening. Nobody was calling out Andy Ludwig's name out of the gate. The collective ND message board mosh pit wouldn't have hired either guy had it been up to them, let's admit it.I remember many were very happy with the hire. This isn’t the only ND site and you maybe right that no one was saying they wanted Golden before his name was reported as an option but there were plenty that were very supportive of the idea when it was given as a possibility when he was making his run to the Super Bowl as a LB coach. There are also plenty of possible OCs right now that haven’t been brought up that fans would get behind if they were mentioned as possibilities. We are fans not football coach talent scouts. The majority of fans really only know the hot names. There are plenty of options that we as fans have totally over looked. There are threads here. The football people have to make football decisions. They nailed the Golden hire. They were on the right track with Ludwig before it went sideways. They did what they had to do in hiring Parker. There were some bad moments this season, particularly in the three games they lost, which makes total sense in hindsight. There was, however, not the disaster and horror occuring that so many here wish to describe. It's also incredibly premature and ignorant to write off next season based on making assumptions predicated off of what Freeman did or did not say today.
It's the Monday after the regular season ended. The carousel is just starting to pick up speed. There are people here making assumptions about Marcus Freeman and the 2024 season. It's overreaction.
There were quite a few that were happy when he got hired, but wanted him gone when the D wasn't performing up to expectations, but he did adapt as evidenced by this year. I'm not a Parker fan, but if the last couple of weeks were the result of Parker adapting, maybe he'll turn out to be a decent OC.I remember many were very happy with the hire. People think/feel Parker is no better than BVG and giving him another year will only set the program back like BVG did. The sad thing is BVG had a hell of a better resume than Parker does. I believe there are better options than Parker and there sure as hell is many OC options with a better resume.
Last the offense under performed in more games than just the 3 games that ND lost. The only true teams they dominated offensively was the first 3 games of the season and a Stanford team that almost everyone lit up.
