Yeah it would suck to be compared to a program coming off back to back playoff appearances and currently ranked second in the country heading for a third appearance. I’d hate that level of sustained success. That would really blow.

Joe Montana has come out swinging against Notre Dame because of their treatment of his son Nate who left the college last year.

Nate transferred from Notre Dame to Montana after being made a back up quarterback last year amid rumors of a falling out with coach Brian Kelly.

Nate briefly saw first team action against Michigan but never featured again.

Montana, the legendary Fighting Irish and San Francisco 49ers quarterback, is clearly still feeling the pain of his son's premature departure.

At a luncheon in Rochester New York he was asked whether he would ever become Athletic Director at Notre Dame

“You’re asking me at absolutely the wrong time.” he told the questioner

“What happened with my son and the reasons for leaving Notre Dame shouldn’t happen to any kid,’’ he said. “At this point in time, it’s hard to be in their corner.’’

October 2011.

I mean, we made the playoffs two seasons out of three and finished fifth the season after that. Its nice for Michigan that they caught up. But all they’ve really done is beat Ohio State a couple times.

Cool. You realize I’m a fan, right? And you also realize the author was trying to be complimentary of the Notre Dame program and its trajectory? UM is on a good run right now despite the fact that we all despise them.

I really want freeman to be the man at ND, but there’s obvious changes that need made right now… he can not wait… this team must finish 10-2, it would be a complete disservice to the talent and experience on the team to go worse than 10-2 in the regular season

Going to need you to take your Michigan and Harbaugh appreciation out of here immediately… if anyone thinks they’re one of the top 2 teams last two years or this year, then they probably thought we were one of the best 2 in 2018 and 2020

So I’ll assume Michigan isn’t the Big 10 team you lie about playing for?

I guess I don’t consider that a compliment.

I'd have been good with this the last two seasons, but I suppose that's just how I was raised.

Michigan's SOS is 113. They have played @Nebraska and @Minnesota... Not really much to write home about. Now, according to ESPN their remaining SOS is 3rd. But really, that's because of OSU and PSU. As a Pennsylvanian, I can't stand PSU, but I would revel in the schadenfreude if Meatchicken went 0-2 against both of them.

Honestly, this is the schedule that those around the country who hate ND THINKS ND plays. If you swapped teams, and ND was undefeated with Michigan's schedule, they would all be laughing about ND being a "title contender with those opponents." Instead, we have everyone garggling Michigan saying they are playing Georgia in the Natty already.

Speaking of Georgia, who the fuck have they played this year?

I don't really understand how it seems like they've avoided any good SEC West team under Kirby Smart. They've lucked out from Tenn and Florida being dog water, and even more fortunate that they continue their Georgia Tech rivalry. I will say, I peaked at 2024, and besides Clemson neutral site, their away schedule is insane with @ Texas, @ Alabama, @ Ole Miss, and @ Kentucky.

UGA plays at Tennessee and the Vols are currently unbeaten at home. On paper it is their best chance at losing. They have a bye and then play the cocktail party. Home to Mizzou and Ole Miss. Georgia Tech away.

It's college football and anything can happen, so I hope it does to UGA. And soon.

Marcus Freeman played four ranked teams in a row in his second year. Smart didn't have the pleasure until Year 3. He went 3-1.

100% agree, but let’s add some perspective.

Michigan is beating these teams by 40+ points

We would be winning 22-19, 17-13, etc.

Considering Harbaugh has been there since 2015 and is far more experienced, I’m taking any win under MF. Now if BK was winning those games 17-12, I’d be more bothered.

FWIW, FEI has both Rutgers and Minnesota above NCSU
That's fair.

Michigan played their first four games at home before playing at Nebraska and three of those games were against G5 schools.

ND played their first game in Europe and went to North Carolina twice in September. The four ranked teams in a row bit still warms my heart at the moment, too.

Right now I'm not apologizing for ND's schedule to any hater that wants to take issue with it.

He may be smart be he sure isn’t showing it. That clock management was awful
He's been up and down on clock management this year. Was really good early in the 1st 4 games (I know, against inferior opponents), but sure wasn't the best today against an inept Pitt defense...may also spell a little loss of trust in Sam to not turn the ball over in a passing situation
