Are we sure Parker is cool with taking a demotion? If it is Klein maybe Parker and Gino both leave, or Gino switches positions.
No clue, but my point is that if you hire an offensive coordinator who coaches quarterbacks, that means there's no place else on the staff for Gino. It's all regardless of how Parker handles the situation.

I’d go with Angeli for this weekend against Stanford. Maybe go series for series with Hartman.
You have to be trolling with the things you post because it never makes sense.

Why would Hartman be rotating with a backup after one of his best games this season? That would be stupid.

Freeman after the Wake game said how special Hartman was and it's sad they only have him for 2 more games but they'll make the most of those 2 games.

They are not benching Sam Hartman. What are we even talking about here.

Yeah I mean, Freeman wants to win the game. He's playing his best quarterback. I get that Angeli has looked good against the THIRD STRING DEFENSE of WAKE FOREST and PITT but we might need to dial it back a little.

would like to see angeli and minchey get a quarter or so each against stanford and the bowl game. hopefully we can run it up on stanford in the first half. hartman has given his all to the program, conducted himself perfectly as the starting qb at ND and i think he got a raw deal with rees leaving/oc search. i see nothing wrong with starting hartman and hoping he can run the score up for our younger qbs to get some pt.

If Howard isn’t a grad, I don’t see how ND admits him. Regardless, I think the Klein boat has sailed. It’s Gerad Parker or bust.

Seeing as everyone here has been saying that Parker doesn't apparently have full control of the offense anymore, I don't see how you can say that it's "Parker or bust."

So we are thinking Klein pulls a Tommy Rees and leaves his alma mater? Could be HC in waiting there, I'm not sure he wouldn't turn us down again....Especially with the QB situation worse than the last time he was thinking about it. Grubb isn't leaving DeBoer unless it's for a HC job. What other hot names have popped up recently?

Did Klein actually turn ND down last time? The way I understood it, Freeman brought him in to meet the quarterbacks and it didn't go well. So Freeman never offered him the job. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

I'm not sure, but that sounds familiar. I was just going off memory as well, and I thought Grubb, Klein and ultimately Ludwick told ND.....No thanks.

I kind of remember that being reported. Was it accurate or a way to cover for ND being cheap? Who can say. If it was accurate, Pyne and Buchner are both gone and Angeli is the only QB remaining that he'd have met with, so maybe the dynamic is different now.

I think it was Sean Lewis, Klein, and Ludwig. Sean Lewis wanted it but wasn't offered it. Ludwig was offered it and it got clusterfucked into oblivion, and Klein we need someone with a better memory to tell us what happened lol.

Yeah the QB meeting definitely happened and O'Malley recently brought that up again on a pod, saying that some of the "less tall quarterbacks didn't like Klein but they are no longer on the roster." But the thing I'm not sure about was whether he was actually offered the job.

Klein: I like to have the quarterback stand in the pocket and complete passes sometimes.

Buchner and Pyne: Whoa whoa whoa look at Mr. Bigshot here. I'd like to see YOU stand in the pocket and complete a pass if it's so easy.

Klein: Ok. (shows highlights on Youtube)

Buchner and Pyne: This is a walkout! We're WALKIN OUTTA HERE

Ludwick was never coming to ND.
He is entrenched in at Utah & he used ND to get what amounts to be pretty much a lifetime contract at Utah.
The money wasn’t a factor as much as the transparency of how it was presented. Utah & Ludwig presented his buyout as one thing & then last second updated the number. The media messed up (shocker) on their facts when reporting. They made it sound like ND didn’t do their due diligence and failed to read the correct contract. That’s false. ND receives a contract from his agent or himself, that’s how it works. ND can’t assume anything or guess, they can only legally offer off of the official contract sent to them by him or his agent. The contract sent was not accurate. ND can’t help that. Then an updated contract was sent & it was a slap in the face of ND because that’s bad business.
ND could have (and would have) paid the buyout if it was correct the first time around.
But ND refused to be played.
Obviously, Ludwick, his people & Utah are going to play it like he turned ND down & ND is cheap. And of course the media are that up.
Ludwick & his agent used ND to get him more money from Utah, & were not honest with their dealings with ND.

This is some great information - thanks for keeping up with the IE tradition of misspelling the names of the people involved...

FWIW, it wouldn’t have been Pyne. It would’ve been Hartman and Buchner.

I liked Klein then and I like him now. I just don’t know how you un-do that situation.
Ah true, I forgot it was after the transfers.

But if it's Klein, it has to be Gino who gets the boot.

Or someone leaves on their own.

I love DMC but I’ll be surprised if he’s here next year. The man’s got head-coach ambitions, and another season here doesn’t get him closer to that. Could see him running a G5, or going somewhere he can OC to fill out his resume.

Gino coached RBs earlier in his career. Maybe could slide over there. Or he lines up an OC gig himself. He’d be a reasonable hire for a lower-level P5.

I doubt Gino gets tossed to the curb. He and Freeman go back, and while it’s hard to know how much he really helped Hartman, he seems to have Angeli at a competent level and has been a good recruiter.

The thing is, if Hartman didn’t like Klein for whatever reason, and Reese was at that same time trying to woo Hartman to Alabama, you could see how they choose Hartman over Klein.

Parker is a really good TE Coach though.
If I was looking at position coaches by just coaching their position, Parker is one I would want to keep.
Name the last coordinator demoted who stayed on as a position coach? Highly unlikely Parker would stay, if demoted.

Who is the last "poor" TE coach at ND? I don't think i can name one. Imo, TE coach is the easiest position coaching job on this staff, given the amount of talent at the position most years.

You and lax are two of the most connected posters on this board. This coming from one of you two makes me really believe this.

Klein does use quite a bit of QB power + other calls that ask the QB to keep it and run if it's there, so I can see why Hartman would be hesitant. But I can't imagine there's not a scenario where they maintain the power scheme Klein runs and that Freeman craves, while keeping the QB upright most of the game.

I hope it's him, if we can get him.
