Guy we went with had different tickets. Was seated next to Freeman's wife. Said some good receivers still unwell.

When your current/best WR is a walk-on lacrosse player, its not a fucking excuse... its reality.
When assessing Stuckey you cant ignore that the best WR was supposed to be Styles, who had a great freshman year then regressed horrifically when Stuckey arrived or that Merriweather has not gotten better. Both of those were really talented.

Games like Louisville can happen to anyone, and they do happen every year. Nobody is immune to getting jumped by an energized team ready to play.

This game isn’t one of those. Just an unacceptable performance across the board, but I’m starting to think we simply don’t have the horses.

Lots of talk about going to the portal for a QB again. Hartman stock has dropped a ton since coming to ND. Why would any QB follow on his footsteps? Fuck filing holes, replace the whole WR room before expecting a QB to throw to these guys. Maybe tap into the intramural and lacrosse teams.

na. we got nothing left to play for this year. we're going to the toilet bowl or the other toilet bowl. may as well see what we have.

EDIT
not saying that winning the next three games aren't important, but if we need hartman to beat wake and stanford then we're in big trouble.
If we lose to teams like Wake and Stanf the perception of the program will take a big hit and the offseason will become and endless "is Marcus Freeman on the hot seat" cycle. We need to beat the bad teams. Its not just recruiting, its the entire program's place in the CFB landscape.

I can’t see this team beating Stanford

They might not beat Wake Forest.

This offense was dreadful in the first half against Pitt. There have been issues since CMU. Defense and special teams won that USC game.

Now the most targeted receiver, surprise a tight end, is out for the year and it was painfully obvious how missed he was today.

I realize these receivers and banged up and young, but with Hartman and this running game there SHOULD be enough there to have this sorted to where it doesn't looks this bad right?

Beyond worried Freeman is not smart at football.
He still has the potential to be a 9-4, 10-3 coach his first two years. You don’t fire that for a first time HC. Now if we just collapse…..
We need to stop lowering the bar when we disappoint. Haven't won a NY6 in 30 years.

Freeman totally gets a 3rd season no matter what but he needs to know that offence is a big fail and if he is loyal to these coaches it’s on him.

I would love to see Angeli start against wake Forrest. That would probably take the wind out of their revenge story.
Also, I’d be fine if Alt sat out the rest of the season (he can’t have played his roll any better over 3 years) and get to building the oline for next year.

I’ve eaten some pizza and saw some dolphins on a calming afternoon walk. If all losses can be noon games, that would be preferable for my fandom going forward.

Totally.

Can you imagine waiting until an 8 p.m. kick for THIS?

Let's all be very clear -- whatever you think of Freeman's shortcomings, if you simply swapped someone like Lewis for Parker ND is at worst 9-1 right now headed to 11-1. We are in hell because he was saddled with a total unqualified person to run the offense after Swarbrick/Jenkins made him take Rees as a "package deal" when he first got the job.

Year 1 - Didn't pick his OC, but at least had a smart/qualified person.
Year 2 - Had to scramble late for an OC, got stuck with a guy that wasn't even on his radar at the start of the process.

You would think that the administration would do more to help out a young, defensive minded HC than foisting a rudderless clown on him.

Postgame Thoughts:
1) This offense has no identity
2) Hard for me to bitch about Hartman- one week the OL blocks another week they don't, the WR's have underperformed big time, the injury bug
3) Tyree played like a freshman punt returner
4) The defense gave up points, but offense didn't compliment the defense
5) GET. RID. OF. PARKER

He wasn’t saddled with anybody. He wanted Parker and still might.
