He did not want Parker as OC. After he struck out with other candidates, he had to hire him barely a month before spring practice
He only had two other guys come in. Then straight to Parker. There was still plenty of time for such an important hire.

Let's all be very clear -- whatever you think of Freeman's shortcomings, if you simply swapped someone like Lewis for Parker ND is at worst 9-1 right now headed to 11-1. We are in hell because he was saddled with a total unqualified person to run the offense after Swarbrick/Jenkins made him take Rees as a "package deal" when he first got the job.

Year 1 - Didn't pick his OC, but at least had a smart/qualified person.
Year 2 - Had to scramble late for an OC, got stuck with a guy that wasn't even on his radar at the start of the process.

You would think that the administration would do more to help out a young, defensive minded HC than foisting a rudderless clown on him.
We’d likely be undefeated with Rees at OC.

I said when Porker was hired that my high level coaching contact described him as an “aw shucks clown” that Franklin ran out of town. That has been proven to be true. We have a disaster at OC and it shows.

That's because he thought we were getting Ludwig. By mid-February, the coaching carousel was pretty much done for the year. He had no option but to promote from within (or didn't feel like it was worth more effort after what happened with Ludwig)

Lewis is really not a good fit for this team's personnel and style. I share the frustration with Parker and think it's non-negotiable that he needs to be gone after this year, but I think Lewis would bring a different set of problems next year.

Where do you start?

Can't finish drives.
Predictable play calls on first down.
Too many runs from the shotgun.
Wide receivers not separating enough.
OC not scheming guys open frequently enough.
Offensive line not protecting well enough late in the game.
Defensive line and linebackers with poor run fits all game long.
Too many short fields for a horrible Clemson offense.
Losing the field position battle all game long.
The QB being way too scattershot with the football, and showing poor decision making.
Generally no sense of urgency with the team today at all.

Real poor performance. This team should be better than they are. The players are not exempt from this, but aside from the defensive coaching staff, the offensive coaches are not making their players better. This needs to be looked at with a microscope this offseason and corrected if Freeman wants to keep this job more than 3-4 years total.

It sucks watching meaningless football, but it is what it is.

I'm very frustrated. I get that it's a game and it's not that big of a deal but it sucks taking time off work to fly out to catch a game and watch them lay an egg like that.

Clemson fans were polite and kinda trashy. I can relate to them in that respect.
How much more redundant can ya get... Their players try to hurt our players. It was like bounty gate all over again.

Did ya see that?

This all comes down to Swarbrick.

He shorted our program this year, and this is what he’ll be remembered for.

That game ball against USC should have went to Xavier.

Neither of those goofballs deserved anything. (Friar Tuck 2nd)
Winner Winner…. It’s about Savvy Jack.

Games like Louisville can happen to anyone, and they do happen every year. Nobody is immune to getting jumped by an energized team ready to play.

This game isn’t one of those. Just an unacceptable performance across the board, but I’m starting to think we simply don’t have the horses.

The defense today wasn’t great, but they allowed 24 on the road and also had to deal with Tyree’s fumbled return and having them start in plus territory all day.

I legit feel for those guys. They’ve largely played their asses off.

Fumbled punt, pick six, and failure to score at the end of the half were brutal. Hopefully we can go 9-3 and show improvement over last year despite being hamstrung by our OC. You have to be able to adapt to your personnel. Offense looks totally disjointed and out of sync. 3rd down and an inch I have no faith in converting. The WR room is hurting and Porker has no answers. Mills and Cross were beasts again and Kiser flashed a bunch. Dukes mayo still sponsor a bowl game?

Offense has definitely let down the D in the big games. Damn shame.

I don't buy that another OC (or the average OCs nominated like Rees) would mean we win this game or the Louisville game.
There would still be the problem with the WRs and Rees lost plenty of games last year without producing good WR play.
I think it would most likely be the same.

Ok but is the problem the WRs? Or the scheme? Cuz the WRs sucked last year too but were open all the time… they just couldn’t catch.

I’m honestly asking that, I don’t know enough about football to diagnose what is causing the issues.

Not one target to Flanagan or raridon… did they even run a route? Clemson obviously keyed on staes.

We miss use our personnel so bad

Hardly any faison first half and again he’s showed he’s our best wr

ND staff with full field video should know if the wr’s were open. Wish fans had access to it.

I just dont remember them being open all that much last season. Maybe a bit more than this year but not much.

Part wr misuse and part scheme

Greathouse and Rico have no business playing outside, other than blocking. We don’t have a capable outside wr. Tobias sucks but he was capable of making the safety help occasionally deep. There’s NEVER safety help over Rico or greathouse

Who is capable of getting open vs man, tyree and faison. Are they ever in together? Nope. It’s not illegal to play two small fast wrs, and one is very shifty.

Parker has his wrs blocking in-line a lot and it’s not working

What’s our best position group, rb. We should have two on the field almost every play. Two out of estime love and price. Quit wasting snaps on Payne. There’s so much you can do out of a look with two rbs that can run and catch, all 3 of those backs are faster than Rico and greathouse

I’ve been waiting all season for us to hit Price or Love on some swings and wheel routes. And we should play action a LOT more than we do.

So many options, remember the one cool play tommy did have where rb ran what looked like wheel or out route and instead faked it and cut inside for big gain on short pass … haven’t done something as simple as that ever this year
