The ball thrown to him in the end zone was a PI and the ball wasn’t a perfect throw it was slightly under thrown the touchdown to Greathouse was if u underthrown too.

He’s gonna have a great year he doesn’t need to be the guy no one does but he’s gonna go off for us in many games this year

Somebody should analyze the game to see what the coaching staff thought about his effort. How much did he play relative to other WRs? I don't know the answer to this, but it would add an actual fact into the discussion.
Facts are unnecessary. #facts

The most underrated skill is strength and will power. It never shows up in the rankings, and it's why a guy like Greathouse who was highly rated, might have even been underrated. The ball is in the air and you can tell 5 minutes into his career, he 100% believes it's his and no one will get in the way.

Merriweather seems to be the opposite and it's not just his two non plays in this game, it was present in camp. Rankings love hight and speed but without the dog in you, it's more hope that production.

It can certainly change but while there were 7 pages calling me a moron for calling him soft with weak hands prior to the game, but it's what it is. Hopefully Stuckey can light a fire in him. He's going to be severely needed this year.

Am I the only one who thought he botched the running play the play before his dropped pass? Looked like his timing was off on the motion.

What you are saying about willpower is possibly the most obvious trait a football player needs to be successful. Saying Tobias doesn’t have it because of some moments in camp and game 1 is absurdity, particularly because he had other moments in camp where he made great catches. Was he accurately rated then? You’ve been actively saying he’s soft and you wouldn’t mind if Colzie took over his spot. Posters calling bullshit isn’t 7 pages of calling you a moron, but you like the attention.

TB will have his moments of greatness this season. Say nothing when he does, please.
I wouldn't mind if Colzie stepped up and took over the #1 spot. Why would I? That means at least one of the two WRs that Marcus Freeman called out 2 weeks ago stepped up.

If Merriweather steps it up I won't be quiet. I'll praise him.

Did he get any additional targets??

I agree it was one of Sam Hartman’s worst throws all of otherwise very good day

I thought his worst throw was in the 3rd. He almost Buchnered it — i.e., a pick-6. I believe it was intended for Tyree, too.

Overall, great game though. Good pocket presence, great distribution to multiple players. He looked calm and in control. Enjoy it, ND fans. Having a QB like this is rare, and take it all in.

You are correct about this and I think it’s especially true for WRs. It’s why guys like Tate and Stepherson were so good despite not having obvious physical traits. It’s what we all see in Greathouse. Jaden Thomas has it, to some degree.
But it’s way too soon to know whether Tobias does/does not have those qualities.

It was a dangerous throw, but the DB didn't touch it, Tyree just dropped it. Hard to fault him for a throw that the DB couldn't actually get to in time. I agree it was more dangerous than was warranted in that situation though.

He played a lot.

Well, good. I try to be a watcher who in the end gives the Staff more credit than my eyes. If they watched the game as it was happening (they did), and they kept him in there (they did), then my primary hypothesis is that they liked (generally) what they saw.

With those play count numbers, I assume that he will start again next time, and probably concentrate just a little more at the point of attack, catch some passes and get Sam's trust (which is really where this (head)game is being played.)

P.S. Sam will "hesitate" less once the receivers REALLY earn his trust.
That is probably the least of our concerns.

I'm not at all wringing my hands for this guy to play or that guy to play. At the end of the day, get the guys on the field who have the bull in them. If that's Merriweather, good. If not, it makes zero difference to me. The football beats out recruiting press clippings every damn time.

That said, if he can find the end zone, it's going to be a huge boost for his confidence.

No. I’m pretty the DB got a finger on that pass to Tyree causing the trajectory to change at the last second. I’ll double check tonight though.

You're just too naive to see it, you should relish in their ability to be honest truth tellers. Bet you were happy with no catches, not him!!1!
One game Toronto. I’ll let the season dictate my opinion and not piss my drawers over a drop. Apologize for being naive but I’m also lot going to be an ass hole about it like some.

There were may more than 7 pages calling you a moron for many different things. About 95% were proven out during the Navy game. Enjoy your single "win" this week, it won't be long-lived. When Merriweather starts putting up numbers, and it will happen, we're all going to line up for a teabag party.

I said Kiser isn't great, neither is JD, and thus far Merriweather plays soft and has weak hands. That's it.

And I'd be happy to see all of those change but right now reality upsets some of the fluffers. I'm here cheering for ND, but I am not blind to weak spots. So I hope you get what you think is a teabag party, it'll mean someone took it up a level from what they've shown so far.

I’m going to just go ahead and say it. It’s better that Tobias dropped that screen. He was going to get tackled for a loss. Heads up play on his part and great coaching by Stuckey.
Yeah just as concerning as the drop is both nd wrs looking like they didn’t want to block on that play … the navy defender got by both nd wrs

Patience- it's week 1 in his sophomore year. He didn't have a QB last year, he has one this year. This is a kid you keep on the field no matter what.
