Rated 20th on the team. Honestly don't remember a freshman being that high ever off the top of my head. For reference, Jeremiyah Love was in the 50s.

A "sure-fire Year 1 contributor" is how 247Sports national analyst Blake Brockermeyer put it earlier this year after watching Greathouse star in Notre Dame's spring game. Ask Notre Dame receivers coach Chansi Stuckey about Greathouse and he raves about his ability and IQ. Greathouse swiped 11 receptions for 118 yards in the final scrimmage of the spring and looks well ahead of many other first-year pass-catchers nationally in terms of potential impact. With transfer quarterback Sam Hartman in tow, the Fighting Irish's new-look offense has a lot to be excited about and Greathouse could be an attention-grabber.

I miss the days of Michael Floyd bullying dudes.

Floyd laughing and making the "too small" gesture at a Purdue CB who was talking trash after being blocked off the field will forever live in my head. It might be the last thing I see on my deathbed when the dopamine wave hits.

He is walking into a really good situation. He is the most college ready receiver in the freshman class in what should be a good pass offense with a very good QB and a WR room which has very few veterans.

When was this? I'm trying to find it, but when I lookup "Michael Floyd block" all I get are about 2 dozen videos of him destroying a Dolphins corner on an Edelman TD in the NFL.

I was sold on him at the B&G game. He and Hartman had a great connection. He is going to have an impactful freshman season.

I wonder if he should’ve been a 5 star considering how seamlessly he assimilated. He was arguably the MVP of the BG Game as a TF that was supposed to be in HS. I’d say he was if I had a vote. I don’t know many EE 5 star TF receivers that could’ve done what he did. If he does the same thing this season it’s a wrap.

I don't know about MVP, but he was the best receiver on the field and certainly the best performance among the true freshmen. I loved what I saw, he was basically uncoverable and had perfect hands. I hope it wasn't just a spring game fluke.

Greathouse wasn't a 5-star, because he doesn't have 5-star measurables.

He wasn't 6'3+, he didn't show insane explosiveness and sub 4.4 40 speed.

What he does well is what guys like Anquan Boldin did well. They don't waste movement, they win the 50/50 balls consistently and are strong enough to easily overpower nearly every defensive back in the game. They don't need elite speed to get behind DB's. They just outmaneuver them.

Gonna be a trivia question answer.

“Who was the last true freshman to score twice in his debut?”

Many of them are. People get excited after a Junior Jabbie Spring Game, only to have the player disappear in the Fall. Greathouse did not disappear today.
But when you make that many spring catches and dominate all spring it becomes obvious. I agree with you, though. But we all knew The great one would be all that.
