Stronger by subtraction? Jeesh. Julie Ertz just announced her retirement from USWNT.
Becky Sauerbrunn will soon follow. Maybe Crystal Dunn and Alex Morgan. Megan Rapinoe and Kelly OHara, fine, but those other four are top world players AND with no even close to adequate substitutes. I am having a hard time remembering an IE comment I agreed with less.

We just need more men to qualify for the job…

Bayern Munich appears to be missing out on Harry Kane and Kyle Walker.

Weird market. Only a few weeks left and still not a lot of movement. Saudi money seemingly keeping a lot of business on hold for now.

Deadline day could be a really good one.

Levy won't let Kane leave. I'm more interested to see if Kane signs on for another year or opts to test the free market next summer.

If Bayern is offering $100M for him, you'd have to consider that. If you are going to reinvest and replace him, you'd need a deal done soon.

It appears they have made some investments this summer and have made some signings, but what is the end goal ultimately? Top Four?

It's an incredibly bizarre situation. He's 30 years old and has never been on a team that has won anything. I suppose he could be completely content with breaking records, living in London and cashing checks. He may not want to leave.

Oh, you don't have to tell me how stupid Levy is. If anyone was offering 100M for him, he should take it. Quality of strikers after age 30 are not great, and if you get a good season with one, chances are the next won't be good.

IF he were to let him go, I'm really not sure who is the top striker on the market? I've read Kolo Muani and Goncarlo Ramos linked to PSG, outside of that though, maybe some real stretches.

I think this might be done already. I can't see Levy letting him leave on a free in a year.

Kane would go off at Bayern, have Champions League and would finally win a trophy in all likelihood.

Levy's ego won't let him pull this trigger. I think he believes he can keep Kane. Reports are that Harry has been all in at camp this year and does seem to like the new staff. Now, as a realist this just tells me that Kane will bide his time one more year if this deal doesn't go through and then move on. Levy most likely thinks the Spurs can convince him to stay when the season is a success.

I'm somewhat intrigued at to what he does. I would imagine he wants the Premiership goal scoring record, which should take him two years to accomplish at best (47 off currently). Does he stay an extra year at Spurs to see if he can get it, then make a move abroad? I don't think any top six side will need him after this year (City have Haaland, Liverpool have Nunez and Gakpo, they might entertain it; Arsenal have a few options, but Kane might be an option pending on how much he wants; Manchester just got Hojland (and it looks like they are trying to not sign guys past 30), so unless he fails they are out; Chelsea have Nkunku, but are also looking al Vlahovic because Nkunku is out for an extended period of time; Newcastle have Wilson, who put 18 in last season).

He's been an extreme professional. If he wants the record, he might have to stay at Spurs. If he wants trophies, he might have to go abroad.

I don't give half a shit about West Ham, but they're spending the Declan Rice money on James Ward Prowse, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire?

Yeesh. I'd start changing some of the locks and pass codes around that building soon.

They made a double offer for Maguire and McTominay, but with Mainoo out (and Fred and Van de Beek leaving), United kind of need McTominay. I thought they got denied McT and went after Ward Prowse instead (if they came back for McT, I'd give him up as a United fan. He can be good for someone else, just not in the right system at United. Look at his Scotland stats, kid has it in him).

I couldn't tell you about how West Ham play, but Maguire might be better there since he won't have to be pushing up the pitch as much as he had to at United.

Man United really grinded out results last year. Replicating that generally isn't easy. Not to mention De Gea really bailed them out a lot of times and probably helped them in the end with adding points.

Bruno is their captain now, which should be fascinating.

I think Aston Villa could really surprise some people and sneak into that Top 6.

De Gea dropped more points for us last season than added. The guy can't play with his feet and anytime he had the ball outside of his box, it was a disaster. Onana is (statistically speaking) roughly the same quality shot stopper but has the added efficiency of being great with his feet.

Best part of this is Tottenham might turn to Lukaku to replace Kane, keeping Lukaku FAR away from my club. Praise Jesus!

Feels like the bigger clubs are continuing to show how deep their resources go, and not just with money.

More investment in scouting is likely going to be happening for the big money clubs so they can find the gems before Brighton, Dortmund, Monaco, Leipzig, etc. do.

This will offset the unlimited funding the Saudi League seems to have.

Sometimes it's easier to let the mid level clubs do it for you and then buy the players who actually work out. Tough for young players to get much run at the big clubs.

Right. And I think we're going to see that begin to change.

The biggest pain in the ass is often securing the work permit. You let Brighton do that for you, then spend tens of millions on a midfielder they paid a few million for.

I think the Saudis are going to force some of the bigger clubs to reach a bit deeper now. Especially with some of the new rules coming down the line.

I've been a bit disconnected the last month or so on the transfer market so seeing

Pulisic- AC Milan
Brendan Aaronson- Union Berlin
Timothy Weah- Juventus
Tyler Adams- Chelsea
Yunus Musah- AC Milan
Weston McKennie- Juventus (again)

Exciting times to follow the USA. And I know there were a few more exciting ones as well.

Tyler Adams- Chelsea
After all that Pulisic endured there, for all of their dysfunction, I don't understand this move. You're better off staying at Leeds and seeing what else comes along. Especially with Chelsea locked in this Caicedo-Lavia Dance of Dragons with Liverpool.

Chelsea is all over the place. I am so happy to see Pulisic go, even if it is to Inter's rivals, but to then see Adams wind up there might even be worse. Adams is the USMNT captain. I would hate to see him soiled at Chelsea.

The biggest pain for big clubs is finding minutes for young, unproven players. Better to let clubs like Brighton develop these players and see which players can play at a high level. Worth the extra money.
