We’ll do that on 3rd and 17 then let them run for 16… then they’ll go for it on fourth and 1
Each year has growing pains, and year after year they should be less and less. We all want a Title Contending ND. So maybe back off the pessimism a little? I personally have let my emotions run wild over ND football too many times. It makes for a bad day, and I’m over that. Enjoy the ride and hope that this year we don’t let them run for 16.

Someone will probably have to remind me of this during a game day or two 🙄

Sure but having 3 lbs as your dline for a play that isn’t a Hail Mary I don’t or won’t understand

I’m optimistic about a lot of things with 2023 season. But when someone says sneed can be like Micah parsons because of body types I struggle. Parsons was 6’3 240 and more athletic in HS… sneed I hope to be more like WU. Parsons is once in a generation talent

The front of a 3-3-5 still has 3 down DL.

I said 3 DL with those “LB’s” on the field together.

My biggest question for Sneed is can he be more of a 3rd down guy and be a breakout player on defense? Build on the PT he got vs. South Carolina.

You or someone made it seem like those 3 would be the dl, at least how I read it.

We ran the front of the 3-3-5 with 2 of the 3 being typical 4 down ends and it resulted in a lot of easy runs for the other team. USC we did that some and not only did it make their run game easy but they didn’t get home exposing us more .

Ideally he becomes a lb like wu that can cover slot or te, blitz, and stop run… we’ve played a lot of small ball on D especially under golden. Would like a little more size to help on tes and run

I don’t believe I made it seem that way at all. You just read what you want to draw the conclusion you’re looking for.

I’m not going to get into the merits of a 3-3-5 versus others defensive alignments because quite frankly it doesn’t really matter.

For the sake of this conversation it’s likely used as a 3rd down package and if teams are going to run on 3rd and 17 with that group on the field, I’d take our chances they don’t convert every time.

I re read it, I can see where you meant them as lbs not the 3dl you mention in your post

I’m good with 3-3-5 if the 3 dl make sense

The only thing about I saw was that he wasn’t in sight for the first few periods but that he may have joined practice after the journalists had to leave.

So he's first team All-American bound and they're doing their best to hide his explosiveness ahead of the season. Got it.

Also, why is no one sharing their sources?! lol

It's time to panic. Freeman clearly has lost the faith of the fanbase and the players recognize it, hence why Sneed is gone and why Rees left for Bama and why Ludwig wouldn't leave Utah. It's time to bring in someone we can have confidence in, thank goodness Pat Fitzgerald is available.

What if, instead, MF and the players lost faith in the fanbase…
(And by fanbase I mean a handful of posters on IE)
