I'll double down that Scott was never coming to the BBQ so brace yourselves if you've been banking on that. I thought it was weird ISD has never mentioned it as even a possibility, and in Matt Freeman's Intel this am, says ND has to get him on campus and that won't be until the fall "at the earliest".

No idea where the optimism on Scott and BBQ, which is for 2025/2026 kids, ever came from.

Apologies for mentioning Scott in his thread 😜

I’m not sure if it’s optimism, but it was mentioned by multiple outlets they are trying to get him back for that date. I’ll personally believe it when I see it.

They can try all they want, I feel like Scott's never given them any reason to believe he'll come. ISD is kind of watered down juice these days, but Matt Freeman still gets the scoop IMO.

i think the only thing it came from was another recruiting mentioning Scott said he would be there, could be wrong tho.

Scott told other recruits he was coming.
That’s where the info came from.

Scott also said he was going to the spring game & didn’t.

But there are actual sources saying Scott said it, so that’s why.

And to be honest, nobody knows what Scott is doing…nobody.
So calling a shot & taking credit for it as if you knew something is silly.

ISD said in a follow up he might come to the BBQ, they just don’t view it as a decisive visit
I will repeat what someone said, (can’t remember which site) on a podcast.,.
They said Scott twice committed to Freeman face to face.
That when in the same room, Freeman has a huge influence over Scott.
So ND just needs to get Scott back on campus and in a room with Freeman, then it would likely be over.
That’s why the thinking is that if he attends the BBQ, it’s ND. If not, he is avoiding Freeman & ND.

Twice? and is still recruiting the guy? I must have picked a good career as would never be able to recruit high school kids.

Well if that’s true then why the fuck hasn’t MFMF hit up Starbs for a Frap during his shift?

Once was last year, early. But ND wasn’t taking a commit from a kid who was literally just starting the process.
Then the other was at his visit in January. But that was when he told the staff he wanted to commit & still take visits & they told him no.
That’s the one that makes people mad. They feel ND should have locked him up then & it should have been over.

I guess my question there is what is the difference between Scott at that time and ‘25 Davion Dixon now?

Ya Think??? I think you take the commitment from any 5 star and deal with the possible fall-off. Playing hardball with rules on committing to these 5 stars yields no commitments. 5 stars don't have to play by the same rules typical Top 250 recruits do. They will always have universities chasing them up until they sign. At least a public commitment might stand a chance of being honored. No 5 star who has a desire to see other campuses will commit under that condition. They hold the cards - you have to play their game and hope to win.

On the flip side how can you tell a 4 or 3 star that they’re not allowed to take visits after they commit if they see you allowing a 5 star to break that same rule?

Personally, I think if you're confident you can maintain the relationship, you're better off playing the long game. Tell them they should shop around - go see the world - and then shop us last. That way's better for all involved than taking a (too) early commit who might later regret that he didn't look around, and who you then ultimately lose without a fallback plan (a la Keeley).

The last sentence, to me, shows that Freeman learned his lesson from Bowen and Keeley.

You don't "lock someone up" if they commit but then continue to take visits elsewhere.
