I work with Aggies, and they say it's do or die for Jimbo this year. Alumns restless and not happy with results from Fisher.

This may be the most big name, highest paid set of hot seat coaches in several years. Several careers on the line for guys who haven't been the savior their new school expected them to be. I think Jimbo's likely gone. He's never been as good as advertised. Sark's in an impossible situation. Nobody can deal with the rich boosters' egos in Austin.

It'll be interesting to see how much faster NIL warms the seats of some of these coaches.
Venables and Napier are only entering their second season on the job. Sarkisian his third. That's crazy fast to be tossing a coach, considering the rebuild that would usually follow.
But the money guys are even more directly invested now. And if they don't like the return they're getting, they'll want to replace the CEO. And who's going to tell them they can't?

Sark is prob fine unless he really drops an egg. I have to think everyone is gunning to take them down next two years for sure. Napier too.

Tucker and Jimbo are the two that need to produce. For that kind of money, you at least need to win the state championship on the field and on recruiting.

I still don’t think A&M can afford the buy out and get a new coach. Venables is gonna be gone after next season and they go to the Season.

How is Ryan Day not on the hot seat - if he loses to Harbaugh again look out. If Ryan Day shits the bed and we win 10 games Freeman will get a look for sure.0

I believe they will be pushed to go after a more experienced coach. Freeman will be in year 2 and not much of a resume. Freeman may be great, but that is a long way from guaranteed.

Point of clarity-
I am not bashing him, I think he is a good coach with a high ceiling. Just got to hope he hits it. He seems to be an awesome dude and gets ND, now we just need wins and recruiting.

I am not saying he is necessarily hired but OSU has never had a black head coach. There will be pressure to look at all the options.

Much like Freeman, this was Day’ first HC job. If they move on they probably don’t go back to someone that has little experience like Freeman.

Agreed, but big-time hires are getting steadily younger. Other obvious candidates would be guys like Fickell and Rhule but they both juuust started new jobs. It probably would depend in part on how Notre Dame does this year. If we make the CFP, I'd be surprised if Freeman wasn't on Ohio State's shortlist, all things considered.
A bigger question would be how Freeman would respond to Ohio State interest. Hard to think he wouldn't be tempted.

If OSU took Freeman, I would be thrilled to get Day in return. I wouldn't necessarily want the trade, but it could arguably benefit ND.

Some very interesting timing in light of what has transpired at Northwestern, Lea and Elko both getting new paper inside of the month that Fitzgerald got popped. Probably just coincidence. Or just agents doing their jobs for their clients.

Should be an interesting off season.

If Aranda gets his walking papers from Baylor, does he immediately go to SC as their new DC? I assume he’d be banking a huge buyout w/ offsets if he takes another job.

I know Golden is assumed to be focused on NFL gig but would he entertain the BC job if Hafley gets fired? Could the 2 simply trade roles w/ Hafley being the next ND DC? Or does Golden go to the NFL & Hafley still gets fired…would he be interested in the DC job at ND?

The II guys were pretty adamant that Deland wants to be in the NFL badly & eventually a HC. Who would be on the short list for RB coach?

They also said don’t be surprised if O’Leary maintains NFL interest & he flys the coop this time.

Believe it or not, I think our next RB coach is already on the staff.

Dre Brown.

What sort of NFL job would DMC be after right now?

He’s already been an NFL RB coach and came back to college (the word was bc he thought it’d be easier to get a HC job in college than the NFL). He also has no coordinator experience.

College OC, or maybe G5/FCS head coach, would make more sense as a next move, no?

Another thing to consider should TAMU continue to underwhelm: If TAMU pays Jimbo to go away would they poach Elko from Duke? Would Riley Leonard follow him to College Station or would he be open to transferring to ND? I‘m no longer hearing talk of him as an early draft pick so he likely needs to play one more year. He’s also an Alabama native so Saban could make him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

You move Parker there and take away OC duties and make him AHC. Then you go out and poach the best OC on the market

Fortuna on this week’s independent predicted Elko would be A&M’s head coach next year when ND travels to college station. That would make that game even more challenging
