Grubb is staying at UW. Lot of other names thrown around for that position.

Saban is trying to get Pruitt to come back as DC.

Steele isn't a bad hire. He just isn't anything close to a homerun hire. He's a solid B+. My best guess (and hope) is that he's a one or two year placeholder for a better DC.

Agreed. He’s coached at most of the SEC schools so he knows the league like nobody else. He’ll do fine at Bama.

Seems to probably be the case.

But wasn't Steele essentially the DC that preformed the best under Saban? Granted, that was before the explosion of offenses that has even saturated down to youth football.

I could see Steele being the solid B+ placeholder...or perhaps an A+. Could be like a Sarkisian for him.

I think Saban has done a good job on filling out his staff. As with head coaches, often times the issue on hiring assistants is more about who is available in a given year. I just don't know if a Daboll or Kiffin or Sark (who had already worked for Saban) was out there this cycle.

Steele is about to turn 65. He could potentially ride into retirement as long as Saban will have him. There really isn't any reason for him to bounce around anymore now and he's bounced around a ton.

So he's got the grizzled vet in Steele on defense and the youngster in Rees on offense. Interesting dynamic.

Notre Dame is expected to hire Alabama analyst Max Bullough to its staff. Bullough spent three years as a linebacker in the NFL and has been on Bama's staff as a graduate assistant and analyst, as well as working with the insider linebackers. I'd assume he'll be working with LB's at ND also. We're doing some significant staff swapping this offseason.

So Brian Johnson and Jim Leonhard.

That’s exactly the NFL opportunity Leonhard was just waiting and knew would arise. Dude probably didn’t pick up a single phone call from a college town area code.

We are a hilarious bunch of assholes throwing these guys’ names around as legit candidates for coordinator replacements. God I love us.

The carousel this last two years for ND has been like something out of "Something Wicked this way comes".
