AND they back burnered Brayden Platt too. Had a side convo a while back with a westcoast analyst you can truast and he thought ND was going to win that one.

I know a local guy in Seattle involved with a ton of recruits. He said the same thing and they were looking into ND strongly. At that time he thought it would be ND, Michigan, or Oregon if he stayed west.

Have to wonder how much Bama and UGA are pushing vs targeting higher rated guys at this point. Though, looks like he has an official set up to UGA in a few weeks.

Loy's second update on this. CB pending the next two weekend visits. The verbiage here is interesting:

From what I’ve gathered, Shaw has not indicated anything to Notre Dame that those visits are definitely not happening, so everyone is wait and see mode.

If he didn't give some type of strong indication he was coming, not sure why he'd need to indicate his intentions about other OVs to the staff.

Quality sentence crafting by Loy.

I can assure you that they are definitely not occurring unless and until they do, and even then they may not have unless I confirm that they did or will.

Siblings got themselves some ND gear, nice.

Shaw's second most recent photos shared on Twitter were from his March visit to ND.

He's a top target for auburn, but Georgia may not turn up the heat for him unless Riddick decommits (which is possible).

Vast majority of Shaw related articles from 247 are from ND sources.

Get through the Auburn visit, hope UGA holds on to Riddick, we should be solid.

MF and Shaw standing shoulder to shoulder. Shaw is a big kid but MF is right there.

That’s kinda the problem he has no positional flexibility he’s a pure Mike

I'll take him and watch him put up big tackle/ tfl numbers at Mike versus going to the sec.
I love positional versatility as much as the next guy, but damn, this kid looks like a stud Mike.

On a scale of 1-10 of how important a singular recruitment is, this one is a 10. He’s an SEC level player with a Stanford offer. ND doesn’t “close the gap” by recruiting young men like Rushing whose fathers do closed door NIL talks with Freeman. They do in recruitments like this.

I don’t see that as a problem. Not every year, but you need a pure MIKE in certain classes. I’ll take an athletic SEC style pure MIKE with undersized athletic LBs flying around next to him.

Problem is, how much weight can he stack on that frame. He’s pretty small for a true Mike. I see Prince Kollie.

Size wasn’t Prince Kollie’s issue. He had problems picking up the defense, which kept him off the field.

240-250 pound linebackers are a thing of the past.

I think he meant, Kollie came in looking the part. But because his frame wasn't huge, he was basically already maxed out upon entering ND and couldn't get bigger.

Understanding the game was part of his problem, but size (length) was definitely an issue too

Kollie is just as long as Kiser and longer than Bertrand (obv prince didn't contend at Mike). His entire thing was just not grasping the defense and not having the instincts. Physically he's all the way there.

Freeman was an NFL LB as your HC- that has to be part of the attraction for this young man.

On the Q&A on IB someone asked if ND would take both Shaw & KVA & they responded “no.”

If true, this could end up screwing ND again.
They don’t take Shaw because they wait on KVA, who doesn’t choose ND, & lose out on both (like Safety situation).

Hopefully they don’t lose momentum with Shaw because I don’t see KVA choosing ND.

Probally because Urlacher grows into a LB but I'd take both still numbers will play itself out also I think Rezac grows into a Vyper
