So Styles is moving to CB and needs a year to see the fired, if ever? Is he all in on this? I guess I should listen to the presser.
He could very easily be a nickel corner or a 2nd/3rd corner and get enough reps for the NFL. I wanted it to work for Lorenzo Styles as a WR but if he can push for minutes on defense, I'd love to see it because he is a smooth athlete with plenty of speed/acceleration

He must be a mediocre wr. Hopefully Styles has more skills at cb.

Lots of CB and Safety targets and a few DL guys in portal need to go after another safety or 2.

I think just one Safety if it’s a one year thing. We need a quality Safety & I don’t think we get one quality Safety if we try bringing two in.

Brown, Watts, Henderson & a quality transfer is a good group for this year.

I know a lot of people are high on the young talent at Vyper but I would LOVE if ND got a true pass rusher in the portal. Safety is #1 and a WR who can stretch the defense. Interior OL would be sweet. As long as we take some withdraws from the portal and stop making deposits, I'll be happy.

I'm still holding out hope that David Bailey of Stanford enters the portal.

If there was ever a place ND could bring in transfers it should be OL.

There is gonna be a lot of failure in the future for a lot of players. These aren’t kids anymore, they are adults listen to bad advice. I can’t wait to see how it turns out for a lot of them.

This is a guy we should 100% be taking a look at this is exactly what we need.

Nice recruiting ranking but that guy has four tackles in four seasons.

Harmon has done a little more. Looks like he was playing some at Oklahoma until he got hurt last year and missed a good chunk of the season. But also he's only a sophomore, so admissions probably an issue.
McDonald was a starter at Iowa State as a junior, but then buried at Auburn last year. Was running with the fourth-string safeties in spring ball.

These guys seem fine if we just need a warm body. But...

The Diggs move is puzzling to me as I thought the ideal scenario for a back nowadays is where you can show out but not run up carries. Diggs was in this exact spot and could have conceivably become a better NFL prospect than Estime while getting less carries.

Only explanation is that he thinks JD Price is going to take his carries.

I agree that you don’t want too many carries but you probably don’t want to be 2nd or 3rd in a rotation if being drafted is your goal.

I would love to add a S if he's a multi-year guy. I don't see much need for a guy in the portal with the two deep we have.

Thomas Harper as well.

FWIW, Diggs played in one less game that Estime but still had more carries last year.

Yep. Carries ebbed and flowed as the season went along but Estime/Diggs was basically a 50-50 split. A pretty ideal scenario.
So unless they made clear either that Estime was going to be a bellcow this year, or that Payne/Price were going to eat at Diggs' expense, it's either Diggs wanting to be a clear RB1, or off-field factors like homesick/grades/poor fit. I would guess it's probably a combination of those latter two factors.

Right. My guess is he felt that more were going to go to Audric this year plus Payne was going to get some as well + he wants to see the opportunities that are out there for him especially if they involve being closer to home and making more money via NIL.

I don't think Henderson is good at all, and I think Brown is just too slow. I hope they can have harper play a lot at safety and not just nickel.

A lot of people including myself think this was a big mistake decided probably by Rees. We started out a lot of games slow running the ball and Diggs always started. It seemed like almost every game we'd go 3 and out with 2 of those plays being runs for minimal with Diggs. Then after 1-2 series Estime would come in and we'd get something really going. After estime would wear out the D, diggs would come back in and finish the game off running hard vs a weakened D.

That's my take. I just never understood why we didn't come out hammering Estime from the get go. Probably will this year.
