It’s just another source of revenue for capitalists. For profit prisons are incentivized for having as many incarcerations as possible.
All this time I thought it was the judges that sentence criminals to prison and not the owners of prisons.

Queue the, prison owners are in the pockets of judges or judges own the prisons comment.

Arrests, Prosecutions and convictions are all part of the same unbalanced system that will eventually send these convicted persons to whatever jail the state decides some of which are private prisons which are billion dollar industries. Judges don’t decide where they go…. The prosecutors for the state do. Smh

Also lobby the shit out of legislatures for stricter and more severe sentencing guidelines.

5 cops can’t have a crime of passion killing a the adulterer of one of the group. Lol. Wtf are you talking about.

His friends were obviously helping their buddy and it either got out of hand or they were going to kill him and cover it up.

I'm not sure what your deal is about this. Nobody is excusing what happened. This is the rumor coming out of Memphis. Take it for what it is.
These cops were young and sure looked passionate. It sure as heck would explain something that is pretty unexplainable. That's 'wtf' I'm talking about.

If it’s a rumor how are his buddies obviously doing anything with any certainty? That’s why I ask. All I saw was that they obviously performed an extrajudicial killing while in uniform. It’s not a crime of passion and they can’t use that as a defense. 😂

It would actually make it worse. It would make it premeditated.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the judge or prosecutor, it’s not the prison that does the sentencing and it’s not prison that decides when they get released.

No argument about private prisons and their operations but they don’t control the justice system. Your statement about it being incentivized for capitalist is way off.

Again, they don't need to control the judges if they get tight sentencing guidelines.

Adultery isn’t illegal in TN I believe and in any event if it was the punishment isn’t to be doled out by cops and it certainly isn’t a death penalty offense. Doesn’t justify killing him. At all.

That's an opinion only. I can't say what i would do if i caught my wife cheating but i can say i wouldn't be happy.

But i can also say that i don't think i would kill someone in the my uniform or getting my co workers involved.

You sure are one dumb, racist son of a bitch, Leppy. Why don’t you stop following ND football and stick to NASCAR. Seems like that’s more your speed.
Oh this is rich. 5 black cops murder a black guy, some white protester condemns the KKK and the racist USA, and I'm the dumb racist. All this after I said I'm glad the cops got fired and should get what's coming to them. Congrats. You've reached the GoIrish41 level of delusion. Ever notice how you two can't get through a post without cursing and calling me names, but I don't have to do that to make my point?

And...you couldn't pay me enough to watch a NASCAR race.

I just can’t understand white people, like you and others on this board, that don’t like black people unless they’re making plays for their favorite team.

It starts before prisons, cops, or lawmakers are involved. The country has become so litigious stores refuse to have private security anymore. Allowing the theft is more cost effective than having to defend themselves in court after their security guard breaks a thief's collarbone.

Every time I hear the tired old "they're sentencing people to prison to enrich the owners of the for profit prisons" I think, "Like there's this guy who invented this car that like runs on water, man."

Schools have no consequences. Society has no consequences. Bail reform, bail funds, and failed prosecution are killing people, but thank god that guy with 14 priors who killed someone didn't cause a prison to make a few bucks this year!

Well, we do have a certain type in here who think profit is a dirty word and no crime should be punished except bigotry and racism.

We also have a certain type in here who think unfettered capitalism is godly and any crime should be punished by locking them up and throwing away the key (unless it’s them or someone they care about.)

How many people have Socialism and Communism raised out of poverty, versus how many have been raised out of poverty by Capitalism? Look at Cuba, N. Korea, Venezuela, the former USSR and East Block countries. Capitalism isn't perfect, but it sure beats anything else that's been tried on a national scale. As for conservative views on crime & punishment, I don't know any of my fellow Conservatives who believe in that any crime should be punished by locking them up and throwing away the key. We believe justice and punishment should be commensurate with the crime and be effective at preventing the criminal from committing further crimes, a deterrent to those considering committing crimes, and a protection of society from crime. In the real world, bad people exist. The criminal justice system should protect the rest of us from those people effectively.

Did you miss where I said “unfettered” with regards to capitalism? And obviously communism is a failed form of government.

I happen to agree with your views on crime and punishment, but I don’t think you’re speaking for your fellow conservatives (at least not many who call themselves conservatives.)

I would add that rehabilitation is an absolutely necessary component that must be implemented but is too frequently neglected. Those who have served their sentences deserve the chance to become contributing members of society.

I think your very last word there is the key. The criminal justice system does nothing effectively right now. First thing that needs to be done is completely overhauling the way we deal with drugs. 1 in 5 incarcerated people are in jail because of drugs. Simple possession should be decriminalized basically across the board. If you’re caught with drugs, unless it’s with the intent to sell or you’re doing something else illegal in the process like driving under the influence, you should either be fined or sent to rehab. Jail doesn’t cure addiction problems. It hardens druggies into criminals.

Maybe with 400,000 less people in the prison system we’d actually have room for the ones that deserve to be there like violent criminals and thieves.

Stick to sports, Bobby.

The real Bobby has a degree in Political Geography. The real Bobby was born in Gary, IN. The real Bobby was raised in a 100% USW/UAW family and was a card carrying Teamster. The real Bobby's life revolved around basketball, playing and coaching until I was 29. The real Bobby's career was spent working on the Southside of Chicago until I moved to Arizona.

My views are educated, informed, experienced and exact.

You like voting Dem? Congrats. The Rep's give you lots of reasons to do so.

I don't talk politics here because the majority are clueless, non-empathetic, non-experienced and brainwashed pom pom wavers.

BTW... Trumps a f****in d**k.

Now what?

5 cops kill a dude live on tv and people here still figure out ways to make it seem less worse than it is by shifting blame and judgement to people other than the cops. SMH.

These 5 Cops need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This thread exists for a good reason. Law enforcement at the local, state and federal levels far too often seriously infringes on the rights of the people they are sworn to protect.

You should stick to following teenagers around.

And yet you consume every nugget of intel from people who stalk (go ahead and say it you piece of sh*t) said teenagers.

What does that make you?

This has nothing to do with race or politics. 5 bad police officers acted outrageous and their actions are unacceptable. They should be charged with murder. End of story.

**there is a guy on tic tok that’s say he has sources that said this was revenge. I have no idea if that’s true but there were comments saying they heard the same thing.**

If that’s the case there will be some serious digging into the incident.

This obviously is what's going on. Women or drugs... maybe gambling.

Cops used to do all sorts of twisted stuff over chicks in my hometown. A couple of them did worse when it came to sliggin, including getting two of my HS friends killed. Glad they are both in Club Fed where they belong.

100% correct. We spend trillions on policing the world but farm out our correctional system because private enterprise can do it 20% cheaper. Who cares about efficiencies, you cannot incentivize industry to increase production at the cost of human capital.

And release EVERY non-violent weed convict in the US... yesterday.
