Because he was fooled into thinking ND would bring in a transfer….Watching games tonight and needed to delete some memory space.... just got through watching ND vs BC. Pyne had a good game. Would love to see/hear/watch an interview with him on why he transferred.
Ok - I could go for that answer but, why would he not think he could beat them out for next year and.... is Arizona State the answer?Because he was fooled into thinking ND would bring in a transfer….
He knows they chose Buchner over him this summer. And he knows if they thought he was the guy they wouldn't (want to) bring in a transfer now. And Buchner's back. So he has to beat out two guys.Ok - I could go for that answer but, why would he not think he could beat them out for next year and.... is Arizona State the answer?
Angeli high school offense didn’t really allow for film that showed his ceiling. When Reese recruited him he was mostly all in on Angeli first and last (ignoring the breif hail mary last minute for Aller). Reese must have seen something working him out that most couldn’t tell from his high school tape. He look better than expected in blue gold game. He needs more reps and opportunities to pretty quickly know if he is worth investing in or moving on to Minchey for those reps asap.I said this before as my opinion but it wouldn’t surprise me if the staff was thinking the same. They need to raise the ceiling of the room. You don’t do that keeping Pyne around. He’s a crutch of sorts. He’s likely the 2nd best option until he’s not. The only way those guys get there is through reps. Those reps need to go to guys like Angeli and Minchey. And I think this is true even if they don’t land a transfer. If this season was going to be an 8-4 clunker, I would’ve rather seen what a young guy, with a supposed big arm, can do and go 7-5 or 6-6. At some point you have to make the call.
Look at Clemson. Dabo made the call and it saved them against Cuse. He made the call a couple weeks later and got embarrassed by ND. A couple weeks later did the same and now he has his future starter.
Now, Angeli isn’t the prospect that Klubnick was/is but it’s the same point. We know what limited ceiling we have in Pyne. It’s time to find out what ceiling everyone else has. Maybe it’s more than we thought.
Rees often seems to see things in HS quarterbacks that other coaches don't see (Clark, Angeli, Pyne, Buchner etc). Freeman must have told him to change his contact lenses because he is doing better recently with Minchey and Carr. I wonder what he will see in the next portal QB that other coaches don't see. I hope it's good or next season might resemble this one.Angeli high school offense didn’t really allow for film that showed his ceiling. I am as simple as hoping we get a ready made starter. I understand all the arguments made here and elsewhere about Buchner’s upside and how little he has played, and the Oline etc. my uneducated opinion is career arch like Dayne Crist where clear back to high school injuries (and lost covid year) just too little actually playing the sport to ever catch up. Hope I am wrong but I just don’t see it in Buchner. Next years schedule looks as hard or worse than this year. Another 8-4 or worse and we may be in for big trouble.Rees often seems to see things in HS quarterbacks that other coaches don't see (Clark, Angeli, Pyne, Buchner etc). Eric Hansen reporting that Hartman will transfer to ND after the bowl game.
SIAP
If that is true, I take back everything I said about Rees!Eric Hansen reporting that Hartman will transfer to ND after the bowl game.

I’m not saying ND shouldn’t go after him but it feels a little dirty to take a team’s starting QB like that.
However you feel about it,… the only time this will get spun as dirty or bad by the national media, especially ESPN and its partners, is right now,……I’m not saying ND shouldn’t go after him but it feels a little dirty to take a team’s starting QB like that.
I’ve always liked Hartman since he was on QB1 where he followed his HS coach to a school starting up a football program. I don’t see him transferring to ND based on what Clawson said about “earning $1M to play somewhere else”. If Hartmann was open about working w/ a collective once he signed w/ ND, that’s another story. But if he’s expecting big money in acquisition pay, ND won’t be in the mix.Wake & Hartman play Missouri tonight, 6:30 ET
Probably worth watching at this point amongst the speculation.

Thanks, that does make me feel better. He was either going to the NFL or transfer.
He's been on record saying, with the utmost respect to Wake Forest, that he wants a fresh start and move onto something new/different.
Can't play a team dirty if their QB said during the season, that he's likely to move on. That's called capitalizing on an oppourtunity.
His best nfl chance is to play in a more nfl offense to show case if he is at that level. Also he is a big name going to a big brand so legitimate nil should be no problemHe was either going to the NFL or transfer.

Right. That’s what I was trying to say. If Hartman can be convinced that it will be there if he comes then good on him. I also posted this before looking at the previous page where someone posted that Eric Hansen reported Hartman to ND. We’re only doing this because Dirty Dillingham stole our starter! However you feel about it,… the only time this will get spun as dirty or bad by the national media, especially ESPN and its partners, is right now,……
I watched that season. He was getting his butt kicked but kept battling while the other guys learned how to play. I didn’t realize that was him and I’m glad him being loyal to his coach has worked out so far.I’ve always liked Hartman since he was on QB1 where he followed his HS coach to a school starting up a football program. Yes. Makes sense to go to a school which runs a more "pro" style offense for his last year. Great get if true. Will be great for the younger QBs to be around a veteran guy who has had a bunch of success. His best nfl chance is to play in a more nfl offense to show case if he is at that level. What does everyone think? Would you rather have Hartman or Card?
Was Hartman the plan all along?
