If Bowen signs with ND he will make way more money with endorsements and sponsorships from companies wanted to sign him for being at ND

The beat writers have already said it's Oregon or Oklahoma. ND is out bro. Mom ain't getting what she wants.

Dad promised her a shiny new gift from Kay's with the NIL money to make up.

Latest from the OU site - not Loy - has OU as the pick, obviously but ND with a slim chance. The Oregon smoke faded with him not actually making the last second visit

If Bowen and his family really dive in to what OU is apparently selling them, it will become apparent very quickly that those “promises” are not contracts. The entire Ewers debacle at tOSU changed the way players are getting $. It’s very little up front now and more year to year and based on performance. The A&M class last year found that out the hard way and why several entered the portal.

The NCAA better step in and develop a systematic way for players to be represented. There’s going to be so many player wash outs simply because they think they are getting something when in reality the fine print paints a completely different story.
What about the upfront $$ that's getting paid just for visits?

In retrospect, hard to think Bowen wasn't getting in for all these visits.

Who needs 5+ unofficials to a local U.

What I don't understand is why he didn't decommit from ND a while ago. Does his family not know or care what a bad look this would be to flip this late after all the OU smoke for months? And what kind of advice are they giving him to follow your girlfriend to a school? He'll be lucky to remember her name in four years.

I'm not saying it's a good chance. If I were to put odds on it I would say we have about as good of a chance as my mother in law not messing up the snicker doodle cookies this Christmas which she always does but I still have some small hope she doesn't this year.

That would actually be legitimate NIL which is a very small amount vs P4P NIL

I have no issue with him going wherever he chooses. Good for him. I just don’t understand why you wait until the end if you have respect for the school you’re leaving. It screws ND recruiting wise and makes them look bad.

For real, all this NIL stuff and player movement might be the end of my interest in college football. It’s a circus. The thing I loved about college football was following the recruiting, development, and growth over a period of years. That’s gone at this point. A commitment really means nothing.

My understanding is that they are contracts and they are not/can’t be performance based

They cannot be performance based under any circumstances. They also can’t entice a player to play for a specific team either but here we are.

Maybe he still signs with ND he’s hasn’t decommited yet maybe he’s having a hard time saying no to Freeman and trying to figure out how to tell Oklahoma he isn’t coming. The easy thing to do if he wanted Oklahoma was to decommit months ago and then commit there. He’s still talking to our current recruits so that’s a plus

The NCAA don’t have the right minded people in the right positions and not have the balls.

There’s damn near no way possible to fix this. Because you have allowed teams to pay upfront and then they and have to stop it. Ha good luck. Even a person that’s stuck twice by lightning and still living doesn’t have that kinda of luck.

Maybe they're not tied to a specific team but "we'll pay you for appearances in Norman Oklahoma on Fridays in the fall" is basically the same thing, no?

Realistically it’s the same thing but legally it’s not the same.

You can still talk about food if you really want to in a food thread, the choice isn’t food or no food. It’s food in Bowen’s thread to purposely annoy folks or food in a food thread.

Thread has existed for 7 years.

JMO.
No kidding! That's what I think. Things are split up into topics for a reason. If you want to talk about and read about food, go to the food thread. If you want to talk about Bowen, go to the Bowen thread. I don't know what is so difficult about that.

I understand what you are saying and I appreciate it. What you said makes sense on paper but the reality is what would we then talk about in the Dante Moore thread? That is where I find a major hole in your logic.

Lol, you would...talk about Dante Moore and his ever changing choices on college. Like I had no idea he was wavering on Oregon, because I don't open up that thread anymore because it has nothing to do with Dante Moore.

Back to Peyton, here's to hoping he is just telling local people what they want to hear until he can get out of there. Seems like the type of kid that doesn't want to disappoint people. That's a good way to keep good relations with his friends/gf/coaches until he can leave for ND.

I would like to hold off on bashing Tommy until he commits to the Rams. But I still would like to think there is a remote chance, however slight it may be, of landing Bowen while we have mom in our corner and still listening to ND commits pitches
Looking at Tommy’s concepts, someone is always open so I think he’s a good coordinator. He also has a bad habit of trying to be too smart at times.

Watts is trying with a very true and mature response.

Kudos to Watts and I hope Peyton Bowen sees this. Watts could be the next Avery Davis. Watts could've easily taken the easy road and transferred out of ND for a better situation, but he has stayed at ND.

At this point, if he decommits it's a bad look. He had the chance to tell it to Freeman face to face, and didn't.

If you're having second thoughts or getting cold feet, the very least you can do is be a man and tell it to him straight up when you have the chance.

No he didn't and that was a bad look on his end.

I will give him a little bit of slack for that, because Deion to CU was kind of a last minute thing that completely changed his recruitment, given his relationship.

Bowen doesn't have that excuse, given OU has been there the whole time.

It comes down to how you want to spend the next four years.

And if you don't like it, fuck it, you can leave after 4 months.

This! Go to ND, if it doesn't work out, transfer. You think OU or school X is going to say no? He'll, MF should use that in his pitch no?

Yeah, Freeman should use our transfer restrictions as a recruiting asset. If you go to ND and don't like it, you can easily transfer to your other finalists. If you go to one of the other finalists and realize you actually wanted to go to ND, well tough luck.

What are ND transfer restrictions?
