I would think if his visit was so great vs. the OK St. game he would've decommitted.

I like MF closing this one out.

Found it funny that all the trips to aTm and OU were for his brother who didn't even have those schools in his final 7.

So he’s going to flip on us and embarrass Freeman on signing day? Unless he wants to enlist in the supervillainy tier of ND defectors, I don’t see this happening. It’s in your court, Peyton. Bring it home for good.
Sometimes kids can’t and have a hard time delivering bad news. It’s easier to break up by standing them up waiting for a fax to come.

Agree. I said before that if he was going to decommit, he would have already done it.

Didn't read the article, but someone asked his thoughts on the boards and he said he has no idea what he's going to do. He thinks if he was going to back off his commitment, he would've done it by now. However, he said he did notice a change in tune when Bowen was asked about ND, he "closed up." Also kept referring to ND as "them" which was surprising to him. Bowen didn't seem as excited when talking about ND and said he could very well be overanalyzing things, but that threw him off.

OU 247 board had another update today where their boy Parker is doubling down on Bowen not ending up at ND. I think he flips and they all know something the staff doesn't know about, or the staff does know, but they're trying to flip him back. Sounds like both staffs will be at his game this coming week and doing in-home visits.

I'm not worried about it with this Thune dude doubling down. He's almost EJ Holland level fan boy and has sources that are on Peytons high school coaching staff.

Ryan Roberts had a very positive update on Bowen on the IB board last night.... Also said that when talking to a recruit in the 23 class about Bowen they said recruits are getting "critical of the national media trying to really create a story out of nothing"

Genuine question... has Roberts ever not had a very positive update? He's been way off on a bunch of recruitments this year.

I just can't wait for this to end. Whether he sticks or flips. Him not being a part of the class may drop us out of the Top 5 for recruiting rankings, but I don't care about that. We have a lot of great players coming in, with every position hit with quality and balance.

It would be great to have him, don't get me wrong, but I've stopped expecting to happen and has come to appreciate the class that we have put together more.

Of course he has, but he's pretty plugged in with the ND commits. He has already made some realistic, less positive updates regarding 2024 recruits. He's not the "ND is getting everyone and won't lose a single commit" guy.

Bowen or his folks could put a stop to it if they really wanted to. Just sayin

Maybe Bowen sticks, maybe he doesn’t. But why does the national media make a big deal of the countless visits, quotes to those team sites, constant contacts with other schools, wearing other schools gear at games. I wonder….

I also wonder how you could possibly put a stop to it….

Roberts seems hell bent on just implying his companies competition is an issue

Yes all the time. He hasn't been "way off" that much. He didn't feel good about Hanafin. He called Jason Moore 50/50. He has been saying we don't have a realistic shot at Mpempa since early this summer. The only two I remember him being wrong on were Dante Moore (who everyone was wrong on) and Keon Keeley.

People on this board don't like Ryan Roberts because his association with Bryan Driskoll but he is one of the best out there.
Well, that's not exactly comforting. Moore and Keeley's recruitments weren't dissimilar to Bowen's.

Jason Moore is the main one I am thinking of. He said literally a day before all the OSU CBs came in that he was all but a lock for ND. I have no problem with Roberts, but every time I see him referenced it's just a positive update.

Yea just ready for three weeks from now so this one can be put to bed good or bad. Worst part is I'll have to watch from home without my work computer. Much easier to just use the work desktop and hit refresh!

I think Peyton ends up sticking and here's why.
1. He committed to us in the first place for a reason.
2. He is almost guaranteed to start at Safety and kick/punt returner next year.
3. Mom is 100% pro Notre Dame and I believe she is in our corner.
4. Peyton doesn't seem like the type who would string the staff along and lie. I think if he would have decomitted by now it would have been last week or weeks/months ago. He hasn't yet. Do people really think he is going to flip on national signing day? That would be a bad look and a slap in our coaches faces. Not a good look at all.

Yeah as long as his exit doesn't create a cascade effect of exits in the class it's not a huge deal. We can be an incredible program with consistent top 10 recruiting classes and getting an NFL quality quarterback every three to four years.

Okay, now do one for Keon Keeley.

just to play devils advocate here.

1. there could be A LOT that has changed since he committed 1/1/22. including multiple visits to both aTm and OU.
2. Depending on Joseph, the entire DB backfield could be returning and Dylan Edwards might like a say on return specialist
3. Dad COULD be 100% pro OU/aTM/bagman we have no idea and we also dont know that mom is 100%. Also, having mom in ND corner isnt a slam dunk, we have seen it go both ways many times.
4. His recruitment has been exactly this. Stringing along. 2023 S Peyton Bowen closing in on decision with in-home visits nearing Headlines like this from our own beat writers dont exactly make it seem like hes "locked in" so a flip is definitely on the table.

I dont know if he stays or flips but it is hard to trust Thune. He is just a fanboy that 247 pays. Hes like another Taylor Hamm/EJ Holland type.
