Some very strange day will arrive when ND fans realize that our coaching staff is pretty good at their jobs.

I realize that there is no replacing the level of expertise gained through countless nights of couch-testing
different alcohol products by fans who never took a snap, but our staff is still trying hard to do its @#$%^%$# job.

Slovis at the bottom of that list too, seemed like a lot of people were pissed a month ago we didn't get him. He's got a QBR of 46.2, Drew has almost twice that.

Preseason but he's #7 ranked QB in 2023 NFL draft. Some team is gonna believe he has the physical talents to do things

sure look if you are a P5 QB these days and fit a profile and have a brain you are likely gonna get 3-5 years in the NFL no problem being a back up. Its not a bad career choice look at Chase Daniel etc

If he stayed at ND, I'm pretty confident he would be starting right now. I wonder what his QBR/draft status would have been...
Knowing ND's track record with QBs, he would've been top 25 in the country in QBR his first year under center in 2021, with a sharp decline to a middling 50-60th in QBR in 2022. This is the way.

Just another wrong jam on Kelly in hindsight…. Talking heads ripped Kelly for not playing Phil over Book. Or is Rees
I'm always pulling for whoever is under center. I learned awhile ago that the coaches almost always get it right when it comes to who the starter is, because whoever is behind them likely is struggling in some aspect or multiple aspects of their game. Rees over Hendrix. Book over Phil. Cam McDaniel over GB. Schmidt over Morgan. It's not always pretty. There's a reason some of these look stupid on paper, but they end up being the right call. That was the past staff though, we'll see what happens under Freeman. Kelly made his mistakes too. Crist over Rees in '11 was the wrong call.
Funny thing is now people are wondering if things with Marshall might have been different if Drew Pyne was the starter. I think it might have been different as Rees's scheme might have been different and perhaps the OL might have been more responsive to Pyne.

Driskell also thinks Malik was better than Kizer. He’s a dumbass.
This season has proved Driskell wrong so many times its amazing he still bloviates 2 hours a day. I think he forecasted this season as a 1 loss season and rarely understood or discussed the risks of hiring an inexperienced, new Head Coach. Yet he thinks himself fancy as a "Publisher" and an "Analyst." I think he is just a "Homer". I think in his deluded mind, Kelly was the main reason ND hasn't won a Natty.

-Kelly benched Phil for Book (Rees was not part of the decision-making).
-If Phil was starting the last 2 seasons would have done better.
-Now that Kelly is gone, it will unleash Tommy Rees's offense as Kelly clearly has held him back
-Only loss this year is to OSU.
-He followed Rees very far down the road with the Dante Moore saga.

Care to elaborate? Why would the line be more "responsive" for Pyne over Buchner?

The OL looked lost the first two-three games, even with Pyne under center in the first half against Cal. Couldn't run or pass block. I love what Pyne has done, but I also don't think it's entirely fair to evaluate Buchner in those first two starts simply based on the massive improvements to the OL play the past two games, in particular.

Hard to ask a young QB to put up stud numbers when he has no time to throw and no running game to support him.

Wasn’t he creepin outside the Gug in a hoodie on one of Dante’s visits?

I get the feeling that some of Driskell's followers see him as some kind of cult leader. If you try to debate some of his hot takes his fans will hold him up like a god, like he's an infallible prognosticator. Anytime I see "Driskell says..." I've gotta roll my eyes, like these people have no opinions of their own.

I feel like Driskell speaks from emotion more than his head a lot of times. He had a real axe to grind against Kelly and Rees after Book got the nod over Phil, he thought Phil was the second coming I guess. That Dante Moore saga was terrible, it always felt to me like he was stringing Irish nation along. Give me more Carrs, less Moores. I do like what we saw from the offense in the 1st half of the Fiesta Bowl, that Air Raid was a lot of fun...we just need a few more Lorenzo Styles type receivers to make it happen. Didn't have enough talented horses to sustain all that passing.

My tinfoil hat theory: Pyne was always our QB, the OL tanked to get Buchner out of the picture.

Eagles and Phil just lost 13-3 to UConn. UConn. Apparently hurt at some point late in the game but wasn’t doing himself any favors with 2 picks up to that point. Wonder if we’ll see him in a few weeks.
