Friday night, I'm going to watch Halloween Ends on the back porch, in the dark, while drinking Guinness.
Saturday afternoon, I'll be at the Renaissance Festival, watching dudes in armor hit each other with blunted weapons, eating turkey legs, and drinking Guinness. If enough Guinness is consumed, I may even buy a sword for no good reason.
Saturday night, I'll be on the couch in the man cave, watching dudes in armor hit each other WITHOUT blunted weapons, drinking Guinness. Go Irish.
Outside of drinking Guinness and other fall activities... there is a lot of good football in store for Saturday. Does the Renaissance Festival have a sports bar? Idk, but I'm gonna find out. Will my wife be mad if I tell her we're at the Renaissance Festival just so we have a new location to drink beer and watch football? Absolutely!
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 12
- Wednesday night Funbelt! Let's root for Marshall to finally get another FBS win... looking kind of shabby with their only FBS win being over ND.
THURSDAY, OCT. 13
- A rebuilding year for Baylor? They're 3-2, with losses to the two better teams they've played. WVU is coming off a bye week. This could be sloppy.
- Thursday night AAC football... not a great matchup, but it's a game to watch if you have no interest in the other game. UCF is decent. Temple is not.
FRIDAY. OCT. 14
- Scout the Midshipmen, who are probably bad, but DID put up 53 points on Tulsa last week. Maybe it's a young team getting better? We'll see over the next four weeks.
- UTSA is 5-2 and beat WKU. WKU beat FIU 73-0. You wanna see a dead body while also admiring UTSA's glorious helmets?
SATURDAY, OCT. 15 - EARLY
- BIG NUDE SATURDAY. There are exactly two (2) times I will root for Penn State: against pOSU, and against scUM. scUM hasn't been tested yet. Hopefully Penn State is up to the task. Nick Singleton will have a hard time finding running room, so Clifford needs to be on.
- Ole Miss had a brief scare against Clark Lea and Vandy last week before pulling away. Let's see how the top-10 team responds a week later.
- Kansas lost a heartbreaker last week, and is relying on a backup QB to get back on track. This also seems like a prime 'get right' spot for Venables and OU.
- Is Texas Back? The eternal question continues to linger... but analytics say that Texas is closer to the top-4 right now than anyone else. Iowa State is good for an upset every now and again, though.
- Another potential letdown/get-right mix here. Minnesota lost an ugly one to Purdue last week. Illinois won a 9-6 slugfest over Iowa. Minnesota is capable of scoring more than the Illini can handle, but they're inconsistent.
SATURDAY, OCT. 15 - AFTERNOON
- Clark Lea and Vandy are this week's sacrificial lamb to the UGA juggernaut.
- This is a good matchup. Will Bryce Young play? Is he once again a game-time decision? Alabama will need to score more points behind Milroe to avoid another upset bid at the hands of Tennessee, who are more potent on offense than A&M.
- Another matchup of unbeatens! Oklahoma State is somehow flying under the radar, while TCU is a Cinderella on the climb. Someone emerges from this matchup in the playoff discussion.
- Syracuse gets a good test here that starts a tough run of games for the Orange. Are they legit, or pretenders?
- Let's see how Arkansas and BYU look. Arkansas has shit the bed of late, and a BYU bounce-back would look great on ND's resume.
- If you've got ESPN+, consider switching over to see if the Dukes can remain unbeaten against a Georgia Southern team that could be a tough out.
SATURDAY, OCT. 15 - LATE
- GO IRISH. BEAT DAVID SHAW. Pretty much everything Stanford is bad at is a benefit to Notre Dame. Take care of business, don't have stupid turnovers, win big.
- BK plays in the Swamp for the first time. Good luck.
- Clemson has turned it on a bit lately, but FSU is capable of competing if they clean up some of their issues from the past two weeks.
- This is a good matchup being relegated to conference-network coverage. Kentucky gets Will Levis back, and looks to bounce back against Leach and Cowbell.
- The Trojans' physicality will be tested against the Utes... let's see how Lincoln's troops handle a team that will repeatedly punch them in the mouth.
- I would love Elko to get Duke moving the right direction. It would be a detriment to ND, so idk why, but I just like the guy as a coach at Duke for some reason. Having said that... UNC needs to win for ND's resume.
SATURDAY, OCT. 15 - NIGHT CAP
- These matchups are all meh. Enjoy a drink and see if anything fun happens.
