If it wasn't already a surety he was gone for good, this confirms it.

He's not gone...if he were to "flip" like Richard Young said he was I think he would've done it already.

I tend to agree with this. I think he probably winds up at Bama, but the fact that he's visiting Ohio State and Florida as well is actually a good sign for us. He's still looking around. We do need to get him back for a game though.

I would put the odds of signing him at 5% and 4.9% of that 5% would require a convincing win today… so he gone

Loy has confirmed that we've moved on. The only chance of us restarting communication with him is if he reaches out to our staff and says he wants back in, so it's basically over. If he's at OSU tonight and nothing stirs in him, I'd say it's 100% over.

I agree that ND needs to get him back for a game and I think they can. You just don't shut the door on a player like Keeley.

I've got to say I don't entirely understand that position.
Yes if he's demanding big upfront NIL, I guess that's that (but Ohio State doesn't do big upfront NIL either). But we're talking about a top 10 recruit who was committed to and very positive about Notre Dame for a year, who has a lot of pro-ND voices in his life. Yes he de-committed but he hasn't shut his recruitment down. The opposite, really.
Unless someone did someone wrong behind the scenes here and there's hard feelings I don't know why you wouldn't at least continue the conversation.

I dunno, I guess like any relationship, you put your whole heart and soul into developing and building something and you get rejected…Sometimes the classy thing to do is just move on. I am sure if Keon picks up the phone and dials 574 area code a lot of people would love to talk.

He has been mentioned numerous time his family is chasing the money. End of story. It’s not our fault of his fault his family members are selfish and pimping him out.

To me, then, sounds like more reason to at least keep the lines of communication open.

There has to be more at play here. It’s pretty unheard of to abruptly cease communication with a kid, especially of his caliber, especially one who was committed… almost primarily due to his family.

He wouldn’t be the first player to go against his family’s wishes. I think you absolutely make every attempt to remind him why he chose us in the first place, and show him he’s still important to us.

And it's not like he's a QB where you take one per class, or someone who we could replace with a comparable player with the same scholarship. Keeley's a make-room-for-him take no matter what.
The only downside to continuing to talk with him is, what, our pride?

At the end of the day if we were Alabama fans would we be upset a "student" athlete is chasing money? Or if Notre Dame was outspending everyone and we were getting all the 5* guys would we care?

Burn this thread in the pile with the Dante thread... and Ronald Darby and Deonte Greenberry threads.
Don’t forget the Frozen Five thread which might be the threadest thread to have ever thread on IE.

We need a Mt. Rushmore of thread vote.

A March Madness style tournament of threads.
