Is this Big Game Boomer being Big Game Boomer, or is PEGGS indeed the place to go for breakfast in South Bend? We usually do the hotel breakfast thing on the way to town, but we did Original Pancake House once and I heard Nick's Patio was good too.

Don't think I've ever been to Peggs but this is the same dude who said Qdoba was the best Mexican food in South Bend?

I know everyone I’m sure even the staff wanted a transfer WR but Tanona’s retirement now officially brings us to the 85.

So, knocking on wood at a random unlikely fall camp transfer, the aftermath of BK leaving for Freeman and another portal year in the NIL era resulted in:

- Decommitment of Devin Moore (Williams, Walker well on their way out regardless)
- Transfer of Litchfield Ajavon, Khari Ghee, Shayne Simon, Quinn Carroll, Paul Moala, Caleb Offord, Jay Bramblett, George Takacs, KJ Wallace, JoJo Johnson, and C’Bo Flemister.

Can we really credit a single one of those transfers to not wanting to be under Freeman? Doubt it. Was a healthy portal turnover. An incredible lack of exodus for a coaching change. Zero underclassmen from the two deep yet again while ND adds the top available safety and a contributing NT when in dire need. It’d love to shop for Jahmyr Gibbs and Jordan Addison but would call this NDs version of winning in the portal again.

Agree with this, although a little drive north to Niles and Prime Table has a pretty good breakfast.
Not as much of a drive, but Uptown Kitchen in Granger was always good. Plus couple breweries near there for post-breakfast

I mean, Big Game Boomer is Big Game Boomer. They learned from Koon when it comes to the hot takes.

How do you see this impacting his ability to run and separate? I see great for blocking and shedding LBers in the short game but cant see this helping his speed in the long(er) game.
This would be an issue if he was a speed player. He isn’t a speed player though. He is physical at the attack, and I believe that allows him to gain separation while running routes. As long as it is good weight I see this positively impacting his ability to make plays.

Agreed. Gronk wasn't a speed tight end. What has always amazed me about Mayer is his ability to find the soft spots against the zone, and he's a solid route runner. Elite hands and tough to bring down after the catch.

He just needs enough giddy-up to keep killing teams on those 3rd-down drag routes. Hopefully an extra 15lbs of muscle doesn't ruin that lol

2. Tyler Buchner (or Drew Pyne), Notre Dame

Marcus Freeman's first Notre Dame team will boast one of the best offensive lines in the country and, at worst, a very good defensive front seven. The Fighting Irish are a top-10 team on paper, and if they get what they need from the QB position, they could easily be top-five.

Freeman and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees continue to treat the race for QB1 as an open battle between Buchner and Pyne, but most media close to the scene have been predicting an eventual Buchner win. He showed off fantastic mobility last season, gaining 346 yards in 45 non-sack rushes, but he also threw three interceptions in 35 passes. If his big-plays-to-disasters ratio is sound, he could bring a level of upside to the position that Irish fans haven't seen in a while. They'll need quite a bit of it, since reaching the CFP will likely require going 2-1 (at worst) against Ohio State in Columbus, Clemson at home and USC in Los Angeles.

So the limit isn’t actually 85? Still don’t understand the current rules. Were they worried about someone transferring out if they brought a WR in? Only reason I can think to not bring in a WR when given the scholly was/is available

An ESPN.com Insider article partnered with a super reputable insurance company to run the numbers and predict who has a shot at glory this year. Notre Dame has the 5th best chance, and have you updated your auto policy lately?

At least it's not the General

i

Notre Dame

Last year's record: 11-2

2022 chance to make playoff: 17.9%

2022 chance to win national title: 1.7%

Toughest test: Sept. 3 at Ohio State. Is there any bigger initiation stage for first-year Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman, a former linebacker for the Buckeyes and native of Huber Heights, Ohio? ESPN's FPI gives Ohio State an 83.5% chance to win. If Freeman somehow pulls off the win -- without injured starting wide receiver Avery Davis -- it might be the biggest win of the season.

What the committee will like: The No. 13 strength of schedule. With road trips to Ohio State, North Carolina, and USC -- plus neutral-site games against Navy (Baltimore) and BYU (Las Vegas) -- this is a lineup tailor-made to impress the committee.

What the committee won't like: No conference championship. This is something the Irish are well aware of and have embraced, but they also know without a conference championship game to play in, they can only afford one loss -- to a respectable team, as opposed to a flop against an unheralded opponent. A conference championship is one of several tiebreakers the committee uses when determining between comparable teams, which makes it difficult for the Irish to elbow out a one-loss Power 5 champ for a top-four spot.

The commitee will like a neutral site game with Navy, with no mention of Clemson lmao. That's phenomenal journalism.

I don't know if I missed it, but do we know which coaches will be in the box and which will be on the field for games?
