Kind of funny thing from the IB podcast…

They mentioned how a Michigan reporter (EJ Holland) kept pushing Bowen to OV Michigan this summer. Said they talked to sources close to Bowen & he never was going to visit Michigan. That reporter just pushed the narrative for clicks & knew it wasn’t true.

Funny now, EJ says Michigan isn’t getting Bowen, but he is so butthurt about ND he says Bowen won’t end up at ND, but gives zero reasons why.

Harbaugh Has spoken about his Catholic faith regularly in the past. My dad who was a very faithful Catholic admired Harbaugh for his faith. He was a huge Harbaugh fan while also being a huge ND fan.
Yeah, when Harbaugh was a Colt he used to visit Catholic HS football practices at times to give a “pep talk.” He visited us once my Sophomore year and his talk was more about his Catholic faith than football.

Falling under the “that’s a shame” category…

Kenyon Sadiq, the WR out of Idaho that Michigan has been pushing hard for, is getting picks for Iowa State & supposedly a silent there now.

They have two WR commits hovering around the 500 national ranking mark, and Sadiq, being from Idaho & not getting much attention, was supposed to be an easy get for Michigan according to their sites.

Maybe Idaho was too high of a bar for Michigan to set, maybe they should try to lockdown Alaska?

Maybe somebody will do me the favor of commenting upon the 2023 recruiting rating for Michigan,
ON3 gives their class a current rating of 24th in the country. I'd heard elsewhere that it was like 35 or something.
What is the general thought about their relative "number"? And will it go up or down (as a guess.)

Thanks. So what's ON3 doing saying 13 numbers higher?
That level of difference seems pretty inconsistent.

On3 uses an algorithm that doesn’t count the entire class.
So if ND had 20 commits, and Michigan has only 10, but the national average is 14, they use the 14 number as the baseline, not total points.
So Michigan is not penalized as much on On3 because they are closer to the baseline than on other sites.

It has its flaws for sure they are working through.
For example, it team A has 25 commits, with 5 5 Stars & 20 4 stars, and team B has 15 commits with 5 5 Stars & 10 4 stars…team B can finish ranked higher.
If the final baseline is 15 commits & team B’s top 15 are a little higher ranked than team A’s, despite team A having the same number of 5 Stars and 10 more 4 stars, then team B is still higher.

They supposedly are adding something to penalize teams with lower numbers of commits.

It's usually a good idea to run test scenarios with historical data to see how classes would've concluded. Even better if you can scrape data over the history of a class to see how they would've rated.

Surely they could've seen this coming with a just a little due diligence?

i know scUM recently got a couple of 3 star DEs from somewhere in europe i believe but i don't know how much higher that would have moved them up if at all

Those latest DE type players were already counted in --- one was 2024 also.

Thanks to all; I get it much better now.

Two guys Michigan thought they led for on Elston's DT board - 93 rated Xzavier McLeod and 90 rated Kayden McDonald - appear to be trending elsewhere. McDonald picked up a CB to Clemson and there is buzz S Car and UGA are clear of scUM now for McLeod.

LOL

Some more Michigan recruiting humor…

They are excited because Zack Marshall, a player ranked 682 Nationally on the Composite, is announcing next week & there are 100% CBs for Michigan.

So currently, Michigan’s average rating is only 89.04 & this kid will actually drop it lower…
Michigan will be at 88.91 with his commitment.

88.91 is a mid-level 3 Star class.

ND’s is 93.04 with 23 commits.
Getting Hanafin, Love & Minchey could actually lower ND’s score. All three guys UM would kill for.

ND got Minich & ND fans were pretty meh about it. He would be right around top 6 in Michigan’s class.

ND’s ‘24 class is 94.27 with 6 commits.

Michigan is celebrating 3 Star players ranked outside the top 600…

Michigan is raising funds for fan based NiL agreements. I have not heard of other programs doing this. Is this the new trend?

This is run by Mick Assaf. He's doing the exact same thing with multiple programs, ND included. Irish Players Club

Michigan looks like they've raised more money but that's because they did it a little differently a little later on. IPC has generated nearly a $1MM for players, with I think Yoke gaming getting an 18% fee or something around that.
