Real nice to see Avery Davis on the field again. I think he will be very much needed this year.

Really throwing cold water on TB12 last two days. Then trying to downplay what they say.

They’ve commented on Tyree looking more stout on his lower half both days

Seriously? Agree he can play really good but I worry about short passes over line like screens when you are throwing it from such a low angle
I get what you are saying, but I played years and years at QB and have coached for the past 20 and most of the time you actually have throwing lanes more than just being taller than those monsters of front and throwing straight over them. I get it, a higher release point is nice, but it isn't as crucial as it may seem. If he gets 20 passes batted down next year, I stand corrected. Personally I would be rolling the pocket with him anyway. Letting him be athletic.

No doubt, but I hate when you try and make comparisons and there’s hardly any.

I expect Buchner to ball out, but I also think and worry we may have some wimbush moments like some of buchners throws last year.

We need to be able to execute screens and short passes to tyree at a high rate.
Agree. Those short passes need to be on point, always.

I don’t see how Pyne doing well in practice is a bad thing. He’s going to play this year.

Judging from how short Prister’s and O’Malley’s practice reports were, they didn’t see much of the practice.

... we're loaded all over the place this year gentlemen, especially on the lines.
But we're whistling in the dark right now regarding QB. We'll probably be "OK",
but honestly who knows? I prefer to "whistle a Happy Tune," but folks who doubt
the goodness of the QB situation are entirely understandable.

The power and talent of this overall team might mask whatever flaws we have,
and so too can the offensive game plans. But I do expect a lot of loading the box
again all season long. ... fingers crossed.

Buchner throwing motion still sucks... doesn't mean he can't be successful thrower (see philip rivers) but very low side fling. Just weird to change to that.
You're literally the worst

Pyne playing well is for sure positive. Would be nice if it was paired with 'and Tyler Buchner looks phenomenal'.

It’s not a bad thing. People expect perfection out of the gate. Competition is healthy and should be encouraged.

Seems to paint a rather clear picture with that

I truly feel like 90% of 12’s eval needs to be game day. I can see a more controlled Manziel

Bauer betrand and Kiser as 3 starting lbs are not going to get it done vs elite teams…. Disappointing if that’s the game 1 starting group… hopefully Marist and prince get major PT

"If there’s a takeaway from Buchner’s performance Friday, it’s that he has grown from a quarterback who was sometimes aiming the football to one more decisive about where it’s going. He rips throws now. One of the things to watch with the sophomore was how he commanded the offense as a leader. First impressions are good in that department. Buchner looks like a starting quarterback, not somebody who still needs to be referenced by his recruiting ranking. It’s all a step forward."

"Crowd noise. Or airport runway noise. It’s not clear. But it’s loud. If this isn’t designed for Ohio State, it’s at least a move to get the players to figure out how to communicate when the coaches can’t exactly help"

"Estime looks much quicker than a 227-pound running back should be."

Marist is a starter he was on limited reps because they didn't want to rush him back in. Would imagine he splits reps early on in the season.

There aren’t really saying he was good, they are saying he was better than TB. That’s what is bad.

Liafau, sure, when he’s back to 100%… he showed signs of being a game wrecker pre-injury.

Not sure what leads you to call for Kollie over Bauer and Bertrand right now, though.

Ya coaches won’t play the best players.🙄
Marist will start, mark it down.
Kollie will back him up.
Kiser is the Rover
Botelho is back at Vyper
Bertrand I expect to be the Mike

Bauer, Bertrand, and Kiser are all very high IQ linebackers and have produced a ton during their time at Notre Dame.

Unfortunately for Bertrand, he was playing a million snaps a game and was not playing his normal position because of Marist’s injury. Over the course of the season, his performance faltered because of that.

They have a very strong 2 deep at linebacker. Besides the DL, it’s probably the team’s deepest position.

Our LB room is kickass. AND we have a HC who is a linebacker guru. Hard to see trouble there.
Just because we haven't got another Butkus winner there (four in a "decade+" would be asking a lot)
doesn't mean we're not formidable. People should complain about things which are actual worries.
