I mean fucking hell the fundamental issue should be what in the world ties free education to athletic prowess. Scholarships in and of itself kind of ended amateurism from the start. And then when free education room and board wasn’t enough we got other incentives etc etc. i mean at some point if its a business business then we sure as shit should be able to evaluate the actions and motivations of these pseudo employees
Oh, I agree with that 100%.

The "problems" NIL and unlimited transfers are causing is because the system that the universities and the NCAA set up is bullshit.

I just get annoyed at people taking shots (veiled or openly) at these kids. Implying Dante Moore is a bad or character deficient person because he backed off a silent commitment, then praising committed players that flip to ND.
I think we agree

But also im old, old fashioned, white privileged, conservative or what other pejorative enough that back when Carnell and Dante were in lazy boys on the field playing madden, i thought appreciate the effort but a little too kiss assy and this isn’t gonna end well. Not just the five stars that end up here but the ones that succeed here bama Georgia etc… mostly its a show me how you win and how you can use me not your put put course and make a pseudo living room on the 50 yard line.

I didn't even imply that anyone, let alone Dante, was a bad person. I was merely commenting on what "commit" or "commitment" should/does/may/could actually mean. Again, if I put myself back in 17-year-old me, I can't possibly fault any recruit. For many on this board, however, including me when I first started following, it's simultaneously frustrating and exciting. It would clear up a lot of discussion if we, and the recruits, used a more appropriate word.

You're right and I apologize.

I unfairly used your comment you get some sh*t off my chest in regards to comments I've seen on this board.

He deserves less shit than Bowen and Keeley, I’ll give him that. Rees deserves the shit. We wanted him and it hurts. That’s the hard facts. BUT… if I had to choose, I swear on my soul I’d take CJ Carr.

I bet CJ will win the elite 11 next year by at least one ranking service if not more. The way he dominated Nico this year and had the highest score of the entire season says he’s a freak in my opinion
Rees deserves shit? Rees and Freeman bent over backwards to accommodate Moore. How is it their fault that Moore (Or his family) kept moving the goalposts? They did pretty much everything in their power to get him on board. Moore wanted to go elsewhere, good luck to him. Between Moore or Carr I'd 110% rather have Carr, so if Carr's commitment scared off a '23 guy then we absolutely made the best move we could.

For not seeking another QB when he started seeking bags and going to TAMU, OR, LSU. I don’t really ever blame a 17 year old. It always falls more on the coach if people are going to throw fits. I would rather have CJ. I’ve stated that multiple times. However, do I think Rees would have followed Dante into signing day even if he was leaning elsewhere at the expense of the class? I do. It’s weird we can’t land a QB in ‘23.

If you have a 5 star QB committed, conventional wisdom says you don't recruit another QB in that class. Word was Dante was going to pull the trigger in April or whenever, then he didn't and kept pushing it back. We took him at his word for a bit, but they didn't allow that to go on indefinitely. Should they have kept shopping around for just a silent commit? Probably, but it's not like they could force him to verbal...not until the Carr commitment happened anyway. "Deserving shit" is pretty strong, they were trying to land the biggest QB commit since Clausen and the kid (or his family) turned out to be a flake.

Dante never committed anywhere - at least not publicly - and people been shitting all over him for months around here.
I shit on the staff especially Rees and also the best writers. Dante was clearly never committed.

So
Any updates on when ND/Carr make that reclassification decision? Obviously, ND seems to be pushing for a 23 guy, but I would think that this decision needs to be done before Carr's football season starts. He deserves to know if it'll be his last season in HS or not. Would hate for decision to happen during/post season.

Wouldn't that decision ultimately be up to him, or is there an ND admissions hurdles he would still have to clear?

Not sure what the finer details of reclassifying are, especially with the rules pertaining to ND's admissions, but you'd think/hope that ND would clear the path and leave it up to the kid.

God that would be such awesome news. CJ come in and save the ‘23 class. With all this Bowen and Keeley bull shit, people are saying it might just be a class we’re all accustomed to seeing in south Bend. Throw in Carr and that is a game changer.

I hope he stays in the ‘24 class and gets as much development in HS as possible.

I hope he does whatever he’s comfortable with doing. There is little doubt to me that he’d develop more under Rees and Balis than he would at Saline HS. He’s going in January regardless, so he’s essentially only going back his senior year to play a little football and then head to ND.

I do think an advantage to keeping him in ‘24 is he’s a good recruiter for the class. Any bump in recruiting other players that he’d offer to ‘23 is too little too late. He will stay a 5 star QB and I would put my money on him to win the elite 11 next year likely pushing him up the rankings as the #2 QB imo. I think he’s at least the Dante Moore of 2024. What scares me is the longer he’s off campus, the longer he’s going to get hounded by Bamas.

Singer said that he is staying in 24. It was on last night's podcast or a radio interview.

The ‘

24 class will exceed ‘23 if Freeman beats Ohio State
I don't think those two things have to go hand in hand. We can lose to the #2 team in the country on the road (not saying we will) and still put together another top 5 class.

We lost 2 games last year and have a rookie head coach and have the #1 class in the country currently.

I agree. But I do not think we will be top 5 this year without Keeley and Bowen. We shall see.

He’s up to #3. Not surprised. I think he will finish #2

You putting Sayin or Raiola at the top?

Raiola. I like CJ over Sayin. Sayin is good though. It’s close. I was high in Sayin for a log time and still think they’re very close. CJ did big things this summer at camps that changed my mind about who’s better. Plus the extra inch and a half of height isn’t hurting.

If CJ beats Raiola in the Elite 11, I think he will finish top overall QB in at least one site. I think he’s a contender. Raiola having that extra elite arm strength is hard to match.

I’ve heard a lot of Mac Jones comparisons on CJ, but some say he has an even stronger arm. If he’s that good, he will be a first round pick.

Would absolutely rather have Carr in the '23 class. The sooner he gets on campus and starts getting experience the better it'll be for Freeman. He needs all the pieces in place to be successful and a game changer at QB could help solidify MF in the new position.
