Actor Fred Ward passed away a few days ago at the age of 79. No cause of death has been announced yet. Ward was a leading man for a brief period, but spent most of his career as a character actor or second lead playing tough guys with a soft heart or at least complex tough guys. He had a signature rugged look from having broken his nose 3 times while boxing earlier in his life. He was in countless movies such as Tremors and Escape From Alcatraz, but I best remember him playing Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff.

A report released today says Haskins had been at a club the night before drinking, got into a fight, left with a woman, and they ran out of gas later. He apparently was walking around looking for a way to get some gas for the car, but why he attempted to cross the Interstate when he was struck and killed is unclear. He had a blood alcohol content at the time of his death of .24, which is about 3 times the legal limit.

The answer is in the last sentence.

One of my all-time favorite actors. Loved him in everything I saw him in. Some of my favorites besides the obvious “Goodfellas” were “Field of Dreams”, ”Narc” & “Copland”

RIP

Great actor. Goodfellas is one of my top 5. I watched that Sopranos offshoot on Netflix and thinking he didn’t look great. RIP Ray.

Don't know how I missed it, but famed and long time ND SID Roger Valdiserri passed away on June 2 at the age of 95. Came to ND as a freshman and never left. Probably most remembered for changing the pronunciation of Joe Theisman's name to rhyme with Heisman. RIP Roger.

Wow. No details yet on his death, but way too young to leave us. RIP Caleb.

Fort Wayne news reported the death was "natural causes".
I know what they're getting at - "no foul play suspected"

But no 25 year old former pro athlete just dies "naturally".
I'm thinking this has to be genetics.

With him being obese as a homeless middle schooler in Vegas (before adopted by FW biz man) and the back to this size (photo 1 year ago when arrested for 3 pounds of pound in FW area)..... Yeah... This is normal, at all.

Thanks.

Swanigan couldn't have had a tougher childhood. That FW businessman was Roosevelt Barnes a former Boiler. Respect for him seeing Swanigan's potential and taking him in when he was getting kicked around like a soccer ball.

A writer that covers the Colts, posted this little story about TS.

TS is in the locker room holding court with a bunch of players when Clarence Verdin comes in yapping away. They called Verdin CNN because he talked 24/7. Annoyed by Verdin interrupting him, TS picks him up and stuffs him into a laundry basket. lol
