Is Freeman getting played by these guys? I don't know, but MF likes to talk about treating people the right way so he probably expects others to do so as well.

In reality most people don't and you're naive to think otherwise.

Just a general thought I don't profess to know what's going on in the minds of Keeley, Rhett, etc.

Very possible the staff doesn't even consider him committed hence the multiple DE offers. They're not in charge of alerting everyone of "decommitment", that's always in the hands of the player but hopefully MF knows what's up.

He’s not necessarily getting played, but what is happening is that these places are promising kids lots of money (they weren’t at the time they committed, recruiting is a process) and like any rational adult they’re going to listen. It’s going to be the roller coaster of all roller coasters recruiting 5-star kids in the era of NIL. Almost all of them are going to have agents telling them to take as much money as someone will put in writing.

Top 20 Kids were getting paid long before NIL so I don't think this is much different. If anything it's probably less money than under the table but it's more socialized so it might garner more broad interest.

Recruiting will make you lose faith in the future of this sport. The money, the recruiting service guys who are glorified pimps, not involving the HS coach anymore, etc. It's gross and the game is in trouble unless there are some serious overhauls. It will go on, and the top programs will continue to churn out NFL guys, but CFB will be more gross than it already is.

you are right about this. i remember about 12 or so years ago listening to a mike frank podcast where he said back in 2000 he asked a not named recruit if anything surprised him during his recruitment during the past year and the young man told him about two schools basically getting in a bidding war for his services as each school offered him a car

Players, particularly run of the mill players, weren’t getting hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars to go to schools pre NIL.

No visit elsewhere is good news, but the OP left out that it’s for our old friend and Berkeley alum Nicholas Petit-Frere’s Pro Day and he informed Freeman ahead of time

Sounds like another old friend Tony Alford is coming hard. OSU side of the update was kinda BS besides that.

I'm sure I'm reading too much into the fact that he has the joker as his wallpaper on his Twitter profile page

Yeah the dollars are clearly higher now that's it's fair play. No one was getting 8 mil before their senior year and whole classes didn't cost 30 mil.

Also, reasons of visit and knowing in advance don't really mean too much. MF was trying to talk him out of going for a reason and it isn't because MF is worried about Keon being too good of a friend to NPF.

Hey babe I'm going to the strip club next month for Billy's bachelor party doesn't make babe thrilled your going to the strip club. Understand it, sure....happy about it, no. Rather you not go, absolutely.

Just don't tell babe about the private lappy and you're fine.

Not going home after OSU visit. Not sure the exact timeline but they’ll stay in the Midwest and head to ND by the 26th.

If you thought recruiting was a wild ride in 2011, hold on to your butts.

If he visits as many times as Loy is saying he could, which would be 3. March 26th, Spring Game, and Summer OV. You have to feel pretty good about things after all those. Now, if one or two of those start getting cancelled or moved, then it might be time to worry.

I just recall his mother said he was committed and not going back on that. Mums usually win out so that provides a lot of hope.

Per 247, ND will get the last visit. Will give the staff a chance to address any BS being sold by the others.

That's good to know and glad it's the plan, but I think a plan that far out you can throw out the window considering this kid's 1) Heavy interest in other visits 2) the fact he's a top 10 player.

I want to think this young man is different than all the other laps we have had with this kind of recruit. I’ll wait and see.

However, I do believe that Freeman is being unrealistic thinking that he can just be a nice guy and recruit them hard and play at ND and good recruits will come to ND.

Keeley and Rhett have been up front about there visits with ND. They act like ND commits doing their due diligence and being 100% sure.

I don't have the same impression from Peyton Bowen who has been secretive about his visits, and a flirtatious on social media with some of his high school teammates trying to recruit him to different school(s).

Keeley acts like a ND commit making sure he goes through the process. Bowen acts like he's dating Notre Dame till something better comes along, if nothing better comes along he'll stay with ND.

Well what do you want him to sell? His record as a head coach? He has to sell and sell hard a combo of likeability + momentum + young energy + all things ND.
