FIU cornerbacks coach Brandon Harris will become the new cornerbacks coach at FAU.

Former Cane player whose coaching career is just starting out. Someone to keep an eye on down there.

Where are Venables millions going would be my question as a Clemson fan. That + Elliott is a significant assistant pool salary drop

Time for the Clemson recruits to break out their pictures of flashing green backs again...

Dabo is getting a new baptismal font in the locker room maybe.

That'd be a lotta cheese for a Southern Baptist to spend on a symbolic act that has inherent no power.

It's a pretty interesting question, though, isn't it? The OC and DC leave, so he promotes from within to replace both and the replacements are getting six figure salaries. Where that money is going now is an interesting question.

Mind you, this is Dabo Swinney, who seems to have an opinion whenever anyone other than him gets an extra nickel. Following that money would be an interesting exercise.

I sincerely hope Clemson's run is coming to the end of it's road. They had a pretty damn good one, but nothing would please me more than to see that thing start to fizzle out. For a variety of reasons. Drawback: a possible re-emergence of FSU and or Miami.

Rather not see that.

Reemergence of FSU and Miami would probably be better for us. Not only do we not really get Florida recruits already, but the traditional powers being good would probably put the conference in a better light than when Clemson and UNC are the powers.

Not sure I'm following. Why would the salaries have to be close or equal to what the former guys got? You're promoting from within, but their experience isn't the same as the previous guys. Bump their salaries as they prove themselves.

There needs to be some balance. FSU dominated for a time, now Clemson has had their run. Miami hasn't won the ACC since they joined. Schools like FSU and Miami recommitting effort and energy to football just means that certain people at those places start to look the other way again when it comes to what's going on off the field. I'd like to see some consistency and competitiveness from Virginia Tech, Virginia, Pitt to balance things out. It isn't likely, but there is a remote chance somebody does enough to be a steady factor in there.

UNC hasn't won an ACC Championship in football since 1980.

It should be interesting going forward into a post Covid ACC era where so many schools are now transitioning with new head coaches.

Wasn’t being entirely serious but Dabo would have lobbied administration and boosters for those giant assistant salary pools so those funds being applied to S&C or staffing salaries etc would be an example of still committing millions to the football staff without a 2 million dollar DC.

With three decommits this month, I think that chance took a serious kick to the testes last week.

Fair to say ND had three decommits this month as well. Granted two of them had one foot out the door long before BK left. Freeman’s world has to be a whirlwind right now. I hope he truly gets some sage advice on how to up the recruiting game (he obviously didn’t move the needle enough for the 3 decommits) while focusing on Xs & Os and winning games as a first time HC.

I assume the fanbase cuts him some slack as he still has tough decisions to make (OL, WR, ST coaches) while planning for a major bowl game.

Now that 2/3 of our WR class is out, can we officially fire Del? At this point, I would rather have a GA or Analyst take over the position on an interim basis until we can get a permanent hire.

we dont know that we havent. the reports were he was just staying on until after bowl game. While some things didn't go his way here at the endm, if he was asked to stay on as a lame duck and he did so, then theres some honor in that.

I wish Rocket was involved.

That would be cool. I figured Tate is young though, he's just on the practice squad now for the Titans, might be looking to transition into coaching. He'd have star power for recruiting, more so than Rocket these days since most high school kids won't know Ismail sadly. Tate ended up being a pretty polished receiver when all was said and done.

Eh, I love Golden Tate. Per a source very close to him, he never really worked out, conditioned, or did any of the extra stuff in the offseason. He just got by on God-given talent and ability.* Not sure that's who you want teaching and molding your WR's. Plus, he's financially set for the rest of his life, not sure he wants to start the daily grind of texting and snapchatting with 17 year olds year round.

*This is somewhat maddening when you think about it. He never played WR before college, nor participated in spring practice because of baseball, but yet won the Biletnekoff award in his 3rd year. Then in the pros, he had ~4 years where he was Pro-Bowl caliber. Man, if he could have just worked a little harder, the guy could be staring down a HoF induction.

If he had worked out, he might've jumped over the Michigan State band.

As you said, we kind of saw them coming before Kelly left.

This was Venables leaving the the recruits bouncing once he was gone. The ground is shifting hard and fast under Dabo's feet right now. I think he's trying to adapt to what is going on within the sport and is being open about how he feels about the changing landscape of the sport to the public. Nobody else seems to be saying much and if they are they aren't being beamed to the mainstream the way Dabo's comments are.

Some guys just want to be around the game still after the pros, and certainly there are some that didn't plan for the future with their cash. It's a dream, I could see a lot of WRs flocking to ND if Golden was there, that's all I'm saying lol. He may have lived on abilities, but he did refine his route running and he had a great knack for winning one on one matchups. I'm sure he could still teach, even if it's a long shot.

Urban Meyer out as the Jags HC!

This is a great way to begin the day. What a disaster he has been the last few years. This will give him time to comb the local bars for some young split tail.

I honestly am shocked at how quick CCU has become an athletic powerhouse in multiple sports. Their campus is a fucking shithole located in the armpit of the Redneck Riviera and its populated by Pensyltuckian-Ohian hybrid students.

Lol for some reason CCU has become a popular destination for Long Island kids as well. I have 3 friends with kids there.
