I'm genuinely curious how they know what strain is particularly dominant at any one time since the tests don't tell you what strain you have. They've got to be doing some kind of random sampling in a lab I would think using positive tests. Are they checking each region, and what's the sample size if so?
A cousin of mine gave birth and got tested as a precaution as she was going in...they tested her and found out she had the UK variant. Might be more of a feasibility type thing, like a drugstore may not have the same capabilities as a hospital?
