I'm very interested to see what happens with QB moving forward... just generally. Aside from a couple of guys it always seemed like BK was always trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

you said he personally recruited him...

No I did not. I asked a question. Here is the precise post.

Wasn't Moore the guy that Kelly recruited himself? I mean, he's the only decommit, so I'm wondering just how much effort should go into him with that being said. It was a very united front for 48 hours and he jumped. Few others jumped with him.

I sincerely apologize now for the use of the word "himself." This is not the case now that I've looked into the matter further. Never, however, did I say anything about "single handedly" or "personally." Them's your words, not mine.

I am not certain, but I recall reading that Brian Kelly was pretty involved with Moore's recruitment. So Moore being the only guy to back out this week kind of makes sense, if that is indeed the case. 247 and Rivals both list Moore's recruiters as Freeman and Mickens. Sounds like O'Leary was in there as well. Moore met with Kelly when Moore visited in June. Maybe that was the extent of it, maybe not, which is why I'm asking.

Moore is the only person this week that hasn't been on board this wonderful love in of lollipops, rainbows and cheese. I don't give a shit if he craps coat hangers and ends up in Canton OH in 30 years at this juncture. He bailed and he's the only one. Adios.

Maybe I'm jumping in the middle here and missing something but he did personally recruit Devin Moore. BK has personally recruited prospects over the years. They were few and far between. Certainly not enough but he did it.

For example, he personally recruited AJ Henning. Obviously that didn't work out.

Check out Moore's thread. Some of the posts in there aged incredibly not well. LOL

Hey guys, I got sick late last night and have been all day. How many coaching vacancies do we currently have on the staff and who are we reportedly pursuing for those vacancies?

The two staff positions that are currently most up in the air are OL coach and WR coach. No one really knows for certain what is going on with those.

ST coach is Polian who is likely taking the Lafayette head job. So it sounds like we have 3 openings… at least until the next round of coaching hires that typically occurs during bowl season.

I'm curious when we will hear about Freeman meeting with the players or any news on the intro presser.

$$$ aside this was the right move for Tommy, get out of Kelly’s shadow, coach for a guy that will let you do what you want on O

I have always felt like Brian Kelly was overly conservative on offense with a "don't lose" mentality that avoided getting too creative or aggressive. Requiring mastery of assignments and too much of a perfectionist in execution that made it hard for some of the best athletes to flourish. Tyree being a good example of some elite talent that just never seems to have much open field in front of him. I think a lot of plays get vetoed before the players even get a sniff and excited to see what Tommy has that he can finally take out of his back pocket.

HC - Marcus Freeman
OC/QB - Tommy Rees
RB - Lance Taylor
TE - John McNulty
DL - Mike Elson
CB - Mike Mickens
S - Chris O’Leary
Strength Coach - Matt Balis

DC/LB - ? (I'd like to see Clark Lea fill the spot)
OL - ? (I'd like to see Harry Heistand come back)
WR - ?

I’d be surprised if Elston is not DC, but not official yet. Also hard to promote him to DC officially when Marcus is still the DC officially at the moment.

Nick L is expected to get elevated as well, which would make sense at LB. Not official yet either.

WR, OL, ST

Theoretically I wouldn’t be opposed to if the right opportunity presents itself Lance covering WRs so you can hire a sole QB coach, but I highly doubt that happens.

Until I see an official announcement my imagination won’t stop picturing tOSU sliding in & telling Marcus that Ryan Day is going to the bears & they want to make him HC with a blank check

Please stop myself from torturing myself & make it official!!

Okay, so maybe the AP writer is a true ND fan and has just canceled out the memory of the Willingham years.

im not sure about elston as DC, just not sure what your getting in a first time DC. i'd rather go with a proven DC, but he does now the system but how good would he be with in game adjustments on the fly.
