Per Patrick, this is going to take a few days. O'Leary reference check is probably priority #1.

Not that it has any bearing on things, but Patrick also sounds very excited about the hire. He questions Freeman's new work load, but likes everything else about the promotion and retaining staff.

It all makes good, logical sense, I'm just impatient.

Kelly leaving has turned out to be the best case scenario that Irish fans could have asked for. Freeman and staff will continue to recruit like rock stars. Rees will now have the ability to call plays without Kelly looking over his shoulder. I would love to see Freeman bring in Hartline to be the WR coach and maybe a Co OC, I doubt it will happen but dream big boys! Its a great day to be IRISH!

Yep for sure. It's a pipe dream that would take more than a pay increase and a "Co-OC" title I'd think. Unless rumors of Day to the NFL come to fruition in short order?

my guess is it wont change much with tommy remaining as the OC. i wonder how he'll handle in game decisions, will MF have the stones to go for it on 4th and long deep in your own end with a fake punt like BK did against duke in 2020 in order to give the offense a spark.
