I understand the politics that Jack is faced with in hiring the Kelly replacement at ND. But, you have a very charismatic, very energetic person in Freeman who’s already on staff. It’s clear the players want him, the recruits want him, I want him, and I’d say most want him. What does Jack have to lose at this point? Give him a contract that gives him the same reach as any other coach within the programs limits, coupled with incentives for performance. If he fails, he fails and it wasn’t a bad decision on Jacks part because he gave the most popular a shot, Marcus has to learn somewhere.
