I don't buy the idea that this is a tough decision for Jack Swarbrick. With the outpouring of support from donors, recruits, former players, and media members for Freeman.... it's almost a free pass. If Freeman kills it, he's a genius for hiring a rising star in the coaching world. If Freeman bombs and truly wasn't ready, it's on everybody. Ultimately he's paid to make these types of decisions, but I don't think there would be an outrage by fans if this didn't pan out. Seems to me that the answer is right there, clear as day. Jack Swarbrick is a lot of things, but dumb is not one of them. Sign Freeman and give him the chance to make whatever changes to his staff he wants to. If he wants Tommy for stability at this point, fine. Elston is a big piece to this puzzle. If he's fine staying at DL coach, I think you are ecstatic for that to happen. The entire S&C staff want to be here and that's YUGE. Go snag Hartline when Day takes off to the NFL.
The pieces are here and in place. One or two additions and we look back on this as a blessing in disguise.. Decision needs to be made before the end of the week. Idle time for recruits is dangerous regardless if Freeman is the guy or not.
