FWIW a family member of mine is a monogram club member and all of his basketball buddies (Digger era) are hearing that it’s Freeman. Some pretty plugged in former ND players in that group.

Regardless, I’ve never seen an outpouring of support for one potential coach like this before. I have a feeling that some players know it’s likely him and then leaked it to recruits and alumni.

Thanks for the info. keep us posted.

Did Lemming really say most of the recruits are gone if it's not Freeman? I don't buy it. Yeah, one has already dropped, but that was from Kelly's move. Eli said most of the guys in their class committed to ND, not a coach. I hope it's true, and I'm sure there will be a ton of disgruntled guys if Freeman isn't picked, but unless it's a real bad hire I don't see most taking off based on what was said last night.

Sneed is quoted as saying he was opening his recruitment if it wasn't Freeman as well.

LSU has gone through some crazy shit for months looking for a coach and we're over here bitching after 24 hours. Maybe we'd be more patient if Jack delivered a title once every ten years so screw him

There is literally no way that a decision like this, with the depth and breadth of the Agreement that's put in place (I know it's a lot of boiler plate, but still), can be settled overnight. I mean, you have agents/lawyers reviewing and revising the contract language, offers and counteroffers, not to mention Board Members to round up for contract approval... Expectations of settling this in 12 hours is laughable. This is real life, not a TV show.

For what it's worth, I'd like Dave Aranda at some point.

I don't follow other team message boards, but I can't recall a time where players, alumni, those affiliated with the school and recruits have been so vocal on the support of one coach. Freeman has been on the job for what, 11 months? Think about the impact he has had during that short amount of time and think about what he could do for the entire University if given the chance. Don't mess this up Jack.

Saul Goodman would have had it settled by now

Exactly, Jack's hand is just forced this time around. And it's not like Marcus Freeman intentionally engineered this situation--he earned it by being a genuine human being, a great coach, and a phenomenal leader. If that's not the straw that breaks the camel's back on this decision, there are a lot of blind people steering the ship.

Agreed it has forced his hand and it might be the easiest hand he has ever been given.

I feel and like other media ppl feel that if freeman is not the head coach then he is gone and maybe gone forever. That would be pretty disappointing

Freebie from Freeman at ISD.

https://irishsportsdaily.com/s/1651...-jaylen-sneed-go-in-depth-on-marcus-freeman/1

Sneed just comes out and says it. Gotta love it.

Good for him. He’s being honest just like they want honesty back.

I get some people saying like we can’t worry about the 22 and 23 class we have to look at the future but if we don’t hire freeman as HC I fear we are gonna lose a lot more recruits and even players on roster now that will transfer. I think all of the 23 class will re open their recruitment if it’s not freeman. If that’s the case then we are looking at a spiral effect that could change our steady program like jack said into a dumpster fire.

Believe what you want about recruiting and stars don’t make a difference but the past 5+ years it’s proven that you need at least a top 5 class every year to compete. Freeman I feel can give us that. He is an amazing recruiter. Maybe just hire the best recruiter so we get those top flight guys. I think freeman will be a great coach. If he gets those top recruits and is a great coach then sky is the limit. Just hope jack sees that

On the ISD live today Mike/Chris said that all of the 23 recruits would reopen their recruitment. They went through the 22 class and who they would think would decommit and it didn't seem like many of class would leave. Exceptions being names that we already know about (CJ/Walker/JR possibly). (I think it was an open podcast so I don't think it's confidential? If it is please delete and let me know, love the work those guys do over there)

I would say the comparison with BB and ND football is - Freeman is WW, and Jack Swarbrick is Hank. Hopefully it doesn't take JS 5 seasons to find his WW.

No it was YouTube live I was watching. I totally forgot they said that so I’ll credit them for saying that about the 23 class. They didn’t mention sneed and sneed came out clearly saying he is opening is recruitment if it’s not freeman. And I think there are some other recruits that are being silent right now that are thinking about opening things up if it’s not freeman

Kelly’s speech to the team:

Thank you 18-21 year olds who I love so much for allowing me to go do what I love which is coach other 18-21 year olds who aren’t you... with some extra boats and hoes for my fam. ‘Preciate ya.

https://notredame.rivals.com/news/ex...n-exit-meeting

Where's the fucking video of that mess of a speech?

"Its not your fault guys... Its just... Sometimes... don't blame yourselves"

What a piece of shit.

Motherfucker ended his "speech" with.

"Appreciate ya!"

If Feeeman isn’t hired and hired soon you will find out. A lot of people that are in the know are say this exact thing.

Don't know what thread to even put this in but on the Zorich podcast thing, Tom Lemming rips BK's recruiting. He said Malachi Nelson's dad liked ND growing up but nobody from ND contacted them until May of this year whereas Riley and OU had been in contact for a few years. He said Kelly didn't have relationships with the top catholic schools in the country. Said Kelly never visited Dematha where Chase Young was from. He had his assistants visit the schools. Saban, Franklin, and a bunch of other head coaches all visited them in person. I see Freeman being completely different. I think he'll build those relationships, make the in-person visits and we'll benefit from that for years to come.

I always thought Brian Kelly the recruiter kept him from winning a title. The good news is that we’ve recruited well with a head coach who never seemed to enjoy it so there’s room to be even better in that area.

All signs point to Swarbrick having spent today working nonstop on deals with Freeman and assistant coaches who are being retained. My only worry is that the information that is leaking out is a smokescreen or circular game of telephone, because that is VERY common in coaching searches.

Freeman himself has a good relationship with many people on the beat and I think the radio silence on his end is telling. I don’t think you’d see that if he wasn’t involved in some sort of discussion/negotiation.

That's how I've interpreted this. Nothing leaking because Jack is hunkered down getting it done. No news is good news. In the meantime IE be like

Is the actual video linked or is it just a transcript? I read through it, but couldn't find the video?

On another note too, honestly if JS told coaches to stay on the road recruiting how is it not Freeman? What can you possibly tell a recruit and his family if you don't even know if you're going to be coaching and who you're going to be coaching for? For real, I wouldn't even know what direction they could possibly start those conversations.

Of course Kelly cant recruit. Every time he opens his mouth, shit comes out. He is the nerd in high school who is now rich, so doesnt think hes a nerd anymore.

Hes a smug, unhappy little man that treats other people like they are idiots.

BUT…….he is what we have calling him for years: The CEO.

He is a necessary evil. The party pooper. The suit. He is a wet blanket by design, to keep the business in the black.

Signing day is 2 weeks out. ND has a shot at the CFP, but Barta has said that Coaching/Player availibility factors in their decision. So not the same situation at all.

As for saying don't worry about the 22/23 class, thats all that matters now. They are the future and without that we are back to square one. Need to sign Freeman as soon as possible and get this thing rolling. For everyone saying he hasn't been a head coach at this point, does it matter? ND has tried everything and still can't get over the hump, lets change the narrative. Kliff Kingsbury was never an NFL head coach either and here we are. Don't be afraid.

This was very eye opening if true. I don't understand why Lemming would lie. But why not come out with this earlier?

I don't buy the idea that this is a tough decision for Jack Swarbrick. With the outpouring of support from donors, recruits, former players, and media members for Freeman.... it's almost a free pass. If Freeman kills it, he's a genius for hiring a rising star in the coaching world. If Freeman bombs and truly wasn't ready, it's on everybody. Ultimately he's paid to make these types of decisions, but I don't think there would be an outrage by fans if this didn't pan out. Seems to me that the answer is right there, clear as day. Jack Swarbrick is a lot of things, but dumb is not one of them. Sign Freeman and give him the chance to make whatever changes to his staff he wants to. If he wants Tommy for stability at this point, fine. Elston is a big piece to this puzzle. If he's fine staying at DL coach, I think you are ecstatic for that to happen. The entire S&C staff want to be here and that's YUGE. Go snag Hartline when Day takes off to the NFL.

The pieces are here and in place. One or two additions and we look back on this as a blessing in disguise.. Decision needs to be made before the end of the week. Idle time for recruits is dangerous regardless if Freeman is the guy or not.

That feels like the opposite of saving face. Letting your #1 or #2 candidate, who is already IN the house, leave before you've made a decision. That's a pie to the face.

I haven’t seen a video released yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if the video never comes out unless it’s leaked.

I don’t even want to see his farewell speech. Just reading the transcript makes me want to throw up. Seeing him actually saying it will make me projectile vomit lol.

I’ve always been a huge BK supporter so this def feels like a huge betrayal. I’m sick of talking about him lol. Usually I’ll say good luck but I wish him bad luck
