If you’re Matt Campbell, say PSU does not open up or offer. I would take the Virginia Tech job over Nebraska if offered. I don’t know if taking the Nebraska job is not just getting hired to get fired in 5 years
Oh yeah wasn’t disagreeing as a option I think it would be a great hire. His contract is just unique and tough to say goodbye to
Don't know the details of his deal, but Stoops already makes more than Frost. Stoops should not leave UK unless it is for LSU, Florida or TCU.
He gets a raise and another year on his deal for meeting what have become pretty attainable goals. Not sure if it’s 6 or 8 or 10 wins but it’s something like get 500K for hitting this. Get another year for hitting this and he does one of them almost every year
I don't know what UK's football expectations really are, which is probably a silly question considering how crazy most of these schools are with what they expect, but Stoops could stay there and keep doing what he's doing as long as they'll have him provided Calipari is still coaching hoops and doing his thing. I can't imagine most people even notice football even with the success he's been having.
Keep getting the gritty kids that Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan don't want. Sell the SEC angle. Win 8 games a year and you're a saint.

Nebraska is Tennessee of the Midwest.

Matt Campbell would be a fool to leave Iowa State. The state of Iowa is the best coaching job in the country. 8 or 9 wins and a warm bowl game and you live like a king. The loyal and interested fan base, modest expectations, competitive pay, and reasonable facilities. ISU loves Campbell. He should sit tight. Similar argument for Stoops at Kentucky, but Kentucky is not the great job Iowa/ISU is.
Idk if those 8 win seasons are gonna hit the same when they are in the new Big 12. Kentucky has A) Basketball and B) overall acceptance they aren’t Alabama/Georgia/Florida. Iowa St doesn’t have basketball on the Kentucky, Purdue etc level and won’t have Oklahoma or Texas to justify lower expectations. Mark Stoops also gets paid SEC money, what is new Big 12 money going to look like?

Didn't they give Campbell a big contract extension recently? Like pre Covid maybe?
I don't see a double digit win season for him in 2021, which gives him zero. Never had one at Toledo either
I'm all in on Fickell at this point. Cash in the Campbell and Fleck chips.
ISU fans love him. Look at Ferentz's run at Iowa. I'm not saying Campbell is great. I'm saying you never give up a job at Iowa/ISU.
Iowa is in the B1G. Iowa St isn’t. That’s going to be the difference. He’ll leave this off-season for the best offered, hopefully for him it’s PSU if chips fall right, I’d go anywhere set up for success (aka not Nebraska) that’s in new P5 if I were him though.

The details of Matt Campbell's contract extension were made public on Wednesday following an open records request made by the Des Moines Register. Iowa State initially announced Campbell had agreed to an extension with the athletics department on Feb. 8, with the new contract running through the 2028 season. Additionally, the new contract will also provide $3 million for "staff salary enhancements" over the next three seasons.
According to the records obtained by the Des Moines Register, Campbell will make $4 million per year over the duration of the contract. Per the USA Today coaching salary database, the $4 million salary would put Campbell fifth in the Big 12 in terms of annual salary, just behind Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy. The new contract also states Campbell would owe Iowa State $4 million if he leaves at any point before the end of the contract, which runs through Dec. 31, 2028.
The new contract is also full of performance-based incentives. If Iowa State wins seven regular-season games, Campbell is owed a $250,000 bonus. The bonus then goes up by $250,000 for each regular-season win. If Iowa State were to win 12 regular-season games in a season, Campbell would be owed a $1.5 million bonus.

He isn't great, but people seem to think he is. He's going to have offers if he hasn't already.
247 Sports freebie from March 17, 2021:
It'll take a job much bigger than VT to pry Campbell from Iowa State. Especially if the playoffs expand (making the Big 12 viable enough as a P5, not because ISU is a playoff threat). Campbell values the job security and admiration he has at Iowa State. He's not just looking to leave to leave.
In the last century Iowa State has two coaches with winning records: Earl Bruce (36-32 from 1973 to 1978) and Matt Campbell who is currently 35-28.
He's done a phenomenal job getting them from bad to good. Taking a team from good to great is a somewhat different challenge, I agree.
Other important details:
- Banks left his wife and child for this stripper.
- The stripper's stage name is "Pole Assassin".
- She has stripped live on the Jerry Springer show.
- The monkey is part of her act.

Has time run out at Stanford for David Shaw? or is he immune to the scrutiny that most coaches would receive for the dismal state? Looks like there is going to be a long list of coaching opportunities at big time programs. Is it time for Elko to test the market?
I always liked Shaw and hope they keep him.
Elko has done an amazing job in Aggieland. I have to think people will be looking for him as the talent pool doesn't seem huge and some vacancies are out there.
I’m curious how much aspiration Elko does or doesn’t have for being a HC. I’d think someone like Duke would see his Wake days and take note of being in Clawson’s tree. Is Elko way beyond even considering that? Idk. On the opposite end of the spectrum should Penn St be considering the Jersey native, Penn football grad should they open up? Again idk. Tough to gauge since he hasn’t been heavily floated each year
