So with the location, weather, a less than stellar conference he could own, excellent ability to recruit, and probably a bigger pay check. Not sure what he’d be thinking if he stayed given the chance.

5+ years ago maybe Kelly leaves for USC. Gotta admit that the weather is nice, there's no shortage of skilled players that want to be there, and the PAC-12 is ripe for the picking with Shaw and Stanford down, Washington back to mediocrity, and UCLA still isn't quite there yet. There's really only Oregon to contend with.

I cannot imagine Kelly would leave the program when it seems to be close to hitting the jackpot. If Buchner hits, and becomes the star everyone thinks he will be, this team could become the championship contender everyone dreams about.

Last four seasons he's had a rough go on the field and now off the field he's starting to have rants that are getting more frequent. As a DC and HC he's been at TCU for over two decades. Could be getting close to time.

There was a time when I would've taken him at ND in a nanosecond.

Really a shame to see how far Nebraska has fallen. I thought Frost could at least bring them back to some relevance in the B1G West given that it's the weaker division. I thought it would take time to recover after Mike Riley, but he has not been trending upward.

Apparently there's talks among boosters at UCLA about letting Chip Kelly go before the end of the month.

Edit: also Dan Mullen is actively lighting his own seat on fire so I wouldn't be shocked if the UF job opens up too.

Indeed. Just read both Andy Staples & Ari Wasserman articles on how Mullen being miles behind Smart, Saban & Fisher as to always be always be recruiting w/ one goal in mind: National Championship. Mullen should know the importance of recruiting better than anyone after learning at the side of Urban Meyer. He must’ve gotten lazy at MSU since expectations were to compete for SEC West titles but now he has to compete (and occasionally win) National Titles.

Considering how long he's been in college football, maybe it has worn on him, but it's such an integral part of the job. Especially at UF and in the SEC.

He's in Year 4 at UF and just came off of a 1-3 October. His last four games are more than winnable but I think if he loses one or more he's cooked. Then it becomes who does Florida go after.
