I saw "No Time to Die" in IMAX last night. I'll go easy on details for the sake of spoilers. It was okay. Not bad, not great. I'll give the filmmakers credit for trying to stretch the boundaries of the Bond formula; some things landed, some didn't. As a 007 fan nothing the film did actively angered me, but there were some eye-rolling moments where the film was trying too hard. The film looked great, terrific locales. The action choreography was uneven with some sequences being pretty sharp and others (gunfights and fistfights primarily) succumbing to that "make everything a shaky cam close up with quick cuts to seem more exciting than it is" formula. The film ties up all of the threads "SPECTRE" laid out but that was part of the film's problem. The filmmakers should have just let some of that stuff go instead of wasting time dealing with it all. Rami Malek was good as the villain. Without delving too deep into details, it's interesting that the film, probably unintentionally, answered back some of the major criticisms about Bond, both the character & film franchise. Suffice it to say that there is a reason why things are the way the are in the 007 universe. Anyway, if you're a Bond fan, it's worth a watch. As far as it's place in the Craig run of movies, I'd put it above "SPECTRE" but below the rest.
