Didn't Sanders have a hard time taking care of the football though? I distinctly remember a momentum swinging fumble at home against MSU in 2016. And IIRC he had other issues.

Lenzy (knock on wood) hasn't had said issues yet.

Yep and I believe he was one of several who lost a key fumble vs Clemson

I like Lenzy, Keeps the DB honest. But before we anoint him the next Will Fuller, the DB from BC caught him from behind. Nobody was catching Fuller.

I'm not busting (or bursting) on Lenzy. He's doing a great job at what he does, go straight at a high rate of speed. But there is a lot of talk about him being the next Fuller when right now, he's exactly CJ Sanders minus the killer return game of CJ's Fr/So years.

Hopefully Lenzy settles into his role as the guy who gets big chunk plays with less touches. Use him like a discount Rocket while Austin & Johnson are running real routes at WR.

I don't see him ever being Fuller 2.0

What I don’t get is he is averaging 26 yards per rush why not get him more plays, why not put your biggest guys in and direct snap to him?!

Don't want to kill his average. Same reason they don't throw to McKinley more often.

Wonder why the dude never returned kicks? Seems like a prime candidate to hit a running lane and be gone. Bad hands? Hard to imagine being a WR.

He hasn't really proven much yet, other than he's injury prone.

You much not have seen last Thursday's night game against the Colts as the most recent example. Fuller has proven he is a Pro Bowl level receiver IMO if he could just stay healthy.

Y'all are arguing against a strawman. No one has said he's like Fuller recently. The only person who mentioned Fuller on this thread recently was me, and I was specifically talking about his burst. I didn't even say he had as good of a burst as Fuller, I just said it was the best we've seen on the team since Fuller.

So it was you who stirred the pot!

I love me some WF (although last Thursday I was hoping he'd break a leg), but he's not one of the best in the league yet. He still has the occasional WTF dropped ball and while injuries may not be the fault of the player, it's still part of the equation when evaluating where a player stands.

Lenzy needs a full season as a starter under him before comparing to Will the Thrill.

Watching it back several times it looked to me like he thought he was in the clear and took it down a gear. Great hustle play by the BC DB.

That BC cornerback supposedly posted a sub 4.4 40 yard dash coming out of high school. Wouldn't take much a slight foot off the pedal for a kid like that to make up ground.

Yep think it's a non-issue, Braden is quicker than fast, at least top end. We haven't seen much wiggle from him like Crusader said, but it's fun to have a lightening fast guy like Braden at our disposal, something we've been lacking the past couple of seasons.

That's a big if. I agree that he can be explosive when healthy, but the last 3 seasons he's missed a month of action or close to a full season in some cases. I expect the Texans will continue to hold onto him, but he's probably going to cost himself some cash due to the injuries. Gotta get close to 1000 yards to be a Pro Bowler and he's only gotten halfway there to date.

Very big IF for Mr. Fuller and, unfortunately, I agree that it will probably hit him in the pocket book. I'm rooting for nothing but the best but would prefer he figure out his injury bug somewhere other than the AFC East.

Over his 8 games this year he's averaging 74 yards per. That's in the ballpark of 1,200 over the course of a full season. The key being IF he could just stay healthy for 16 games.

This, he doesn't appear to have much wiggle. He just inputs the flight plan from the tower and hits the afterburners.

Braden "The Rocket" Lenzy?

On that 61 yd TD his afterburner appeared to run out of fuel around the 10 yd line or so.

Crusader's nom de guerre "Discount Rocket" seems more apropos till he burns the carbon out those exhaust ports and can go the distance.

His sleeve game has gone unappreciated. We need more players with lots of ink.

Still think Lenzy AND Keys are back in 2020?

I'm afraid I'll have the last laugh again.

Yes. I was the first one to call you on your BS. Better pay out.

Edit: And to be clear if it’s based off the playing time they received, that’s a non issue. Both knew that Finke and Claypool were going to play all the snaps as it was their last game. Lenzy got the same amount of touches that he’s gotten all season.

Here are a few numbers for you to make you feel better.

Will Fuller
2013 - 6 receptions
2014 - 76 receptions

ESB
2015 - 1 reception
2016 - 58 receptions

Miles Boykin
2017 - 12 receptions
2018 - 59 receptions

The difference a year makes? Opportunity. There will be couple out of Johnson, Austin, Lenzy, and Keys that replicate this increase in production. Maybe there is a bit more unknown/lack of experience than an average year but the 2020 receivers are the most talented we've had imo.

Posted in another thread but applies here too. There will be plenty of opportunity next year for our inexperienced receivers. They'll be fine. And yes they will be back.
