Poor man's Elijah hood.

Perhaps, but he is a great RB. If you look at Hood's SR tape, sure he's a "poor man's etc" but don't disrespect a ND commit like that ever. How would you like if I, or others, called you a "poor man's" 'plumber' or whatever it is you do??? Don't disrespect ND commits.

And you need to chill out a bit new guy haha.

"Poor Man's" isn't always a bad thing. It's a way for people to converse and make comparisons. Koon wasn't disrespekin anybody.

I here ya there. I've been having a godawful day. We all make comparisons and usually don't mean to be dickish. I'm a Canadian so i'll say SORRY if I was aggressive. I just want to be an ND fan and respect all that is ND and I expect the same from the rest of ND fans on here. Don't disrespect recruits. They probably read this stuff.

Not sure how to not take it as a bad thing. Not a slam at you Koon, I've just always hated that saying. Basically the statement is saying you're not rich enough to get the real thing so you settle for a cheap knockoff. A lot of people on here use that statement.

Jesus you guys got your undies in a bundle about that comment too? His size and style remind me of Hood, but not as good. IDK how anyone can argue he's on Hood's level and IDK of an easier way to draw the comparison. Sorry I'm not sorry. Poor man's Hood.

They don't make very many Elijah Hoods around the country, so "settling for a cheap knockoff" is reaching a little too far into the use of "Poor Man's..." IMO.

It just means that he's a similar player, but not as talented. That's not an insult, it's an observation.

I think the taste involved in the comment is the part that could be taken as insult not the meaning of the comparison .

Overall over always found that comment very ironic as it's usually coming from someone who could never sniff the talent level of said poor man's.

Let me rephrase. He reminds me of Elijah Hood. Just not as good. Hopefully that's better.

I take no issue with Koon's description. We've all been wrong on our analysis of players.

I was almost certain Josh Adams wouldn't see the field until his junior year and I wanted to see if he could play OLB, lulz.

I thought Kirk Merritt was going to dominate his freshman season and they still haven't made use of him in Oregon.

Markese controls how good Markese will be. I'm glad he's already in the fold 20 months prior to signing day.

I love it when ND pulls in "local" kids. I doubt he ends up as the next *insert name here* as far as RBs go but football in Indiana isn't as big as in some other states. That doesn't mean there aren't some talented kids but it isn't typically a recruiting 'hot bed."

I didn't follow WBB much until Skylar Diggins committed and I think it's very cool that she and Daniel Smith, also from the area, eventually formed a relationship. Complain about the sporadic success for the football team in the last twenty years but the school brings people together from all over and seems to form bonds that will likely never be broken.

HS football in Indiana has been getting better every year. They don't produce the numbers like FL, TX or GA does, but it's been producing a lot of D1 talent for a while. The MIC has been ranked in the top five in the country for HS conferences for the last few years. Cathedral doesn't play ion the MIC but they typically schedule 1 or 2 MIC teams every year.

Great pick up!

I'm hesitant to call him a "poor man's Hood", because this kid has yet to play his junior season. I think we had Hood's junior film by the time we started heralding him as Bus 2.0 or whatever.

I like what I see in Stepp, and if he's really 6'0 210 as a sophomore going on Junior, that's very reassuring. Kid has the makings of a beastly RB down the line with a lot of room to grow. I like his all around game.

As for his competition, normally I'd be a bit hesitant to buy into his film, but IIRC, Cathedral isn't your average Indiana school and they play a rigorous schedule year in and year out with plenty of top level Midwest schools.

They normally play up, and have moved up in class in recent years. Played a few big Ohio schools the past couple years, and believe they are playing a TN team this year. Very good program and lots of talent for an Indy parochial team.

Cathedral plays the toughest competition in Indiana and they play other teams in the Midwest like St. X in Ohio
