Ironically, it's the Left's position on voter ID laws that is extremely racist. They contend that voter ID laws would suppress minority turnout. That means they believe that minorities are either too poor, too lazy, or too stupid to figure out how to acquire one.

No. They use the fact that a great deal of minorities in this country are in poverty. That's not an assumption, that's a statistical fact. A great deal of people below the poverty line are poorly educated, that's not an assumption, that's a fact. Nobody (except for people like you) is calling for protections of the lazy. What most people see as a healthy dose of skepticism from this class regarding government, you are mistaking for laziness.

That's kind of a dumb exchange. She didn't admit to anything. That entire exchange between them is pretty comical though.

Not to mention Trump's tweet didn't say anything about to obtain admission as a student for her to graduate. It's not like she is unfamiliar with the controversy to which he is referring.

Pretty pathetic that someone that is trying to become the leader of the free world is on Twitter trying to bully anyone that he doesn't like. A shining example for America's youth.

I mean... she's at least 50% responsible for the Twitter back and forth. And she's on the short list for VP. It's not like he's "bullying" some stay at home moth of 3 that did nothing to him.

As for the Twitter exchange, kind of funny how intentionally dense Warren was being there. Donald Trump clearly speaking to how during her employment at Harvard she rather mysteriously reclassified as a Native American with nothing besides "family stories" to support that claim.

She counters with "I didn't go to Harvard"... umm, everyone knew what he was talking about, except fraudulent Warren.

C'mon man. Trump continued to send tweets at her and calling her Pocohantus. Just like everyone he doesn't like, he makes a childish nickname and attacks them through social media relentlessly. She even made a tweet telling her followers that she was going to start responding. She doesn't use nicknames or make allegations without proof (Trumps forte). She simply sticks up for herself when Trump goes on a rant like spoiled rich kid bully.

There have been dozens of back and forth tweets between them at this point, most where Warren makes him look foolish. So I'm not going to use one post when Trump gets her to misstep (not even a misstep in my opinion, but whatever) as evidence of her being dense.

Finally, there is an ocean of difference between a "potential vp candidate" and the Republican nominee for President. In a perfect world, neither would be airing it out on Twitter. But we are clearly not in a better world. But I'm not going to blame the victim of Internet bullying because she tries to defend herself.

Trump is a total child on twitter but I love his nicknames and slights and laugh my &%# off at them. I suggest anyone not following him to do so.

That's surprising. As you always talk about people getting bullied or "piling on" that happens here on IE. But when it comes to someone trying to become the leader of the free world, you see that as funny and laugh your ass off?

Priorities man...

His twitter behavior is half the reason I've decided to roll with him and support the man.

Talk about apples to Brazilian nuts. I think Hillary and Cruz are too busy to worry about Trump's tweets, and they don't directly interact with him on twitter like the members on IE that suffer from your badgering. It's Friday man, you've done enough this week. Let's not start this, nobody has time for it.

You're either lying or you're ignorant on this particular issue. Every proposal for mandatory voter ID laws includes a provision for FREE state IDs..

I was taking the information directly from the linked article.

ETA: They listed a price per ID. I may have misinterpreted. It may have been the cost to the tax payers , not to the individual voters.

Let’s be honest – Donald Trump is a loser. Count all his failed businesses. See how he kept his father’s empire afloat by cheating people with scams like Trump University and by using strategic corporate bankruptcy (excuse me, bankruptcies) to skip out on debt. Listen to the experts who’ve concluded he’s so bad at business that he might have more money today if he’d put his entire inheritance into an index fund and just left it alone.

She's been just as bad as he's been. He has a point when he says she's all talk. She made 430k in a tenured position at Harvard. She lives in a mansion. And she tries to complain about how the system isn't fair, especially for students. She deserves to get called out for being a hypocrite, especially if she's seriously being considered for VP.

He attacked her (right or wrong) because she's the strongest Hillary VP candidate who would be able to appeal to Bernie supporters. Might not have been "presidential" for him to do so, but it was smart. People expect these attacks from Trump. And the only people who really care are those who were never going to vote for him in the first place. He baited her into an ugly back and forth, and he's going to win those every time. Rubio found that out the hard way.

Never voted before, you don't have to show an Id? Isn't there a registered voter list at the polling places? You just walk in say I'm Joe Bob and vote?

Depends on the state.

For example, in Michigan:

If you do not have photo ID, you can still cast a ballot simply by signing an affidavit. The affidavit can be used by:

Voters who do not have acceptable photo ID
Voters who have photo ID but didn't bring it to the polls

Once you sign the affidavit, you may cast your ballot. It will be counted with all other ballots on Election Day.

I recently moved and needed to update my DL to reflect my current address so it matched where I'm registered. The BMV was backed up so they gave me a printed copy instead of the actual hard copy you keep in a wallet. No joke, the registration booth almost didn't accept my official document from the BMV. I about lost my shit. My experience here in Indiana is that you have to be registered by a certain date and have a valid photo ID that matches the registration to vote. I, personally, see nothing wrong with that....except when the people running the booths don't know what the hell they're doing and tried to turn people (me) away for no reason. The entire voting process, in every state, is fubar. Fact.

I can't be the only 1 that she's Pocahontas is just low energy jeb bush with a wig right.?!

"Are you kidding me? She wishes she could look like Jeb in a wig! Alright let me tell you something quick, Jeb and me, we competed. He's a good guy, ok? Who here thinks Jeb is a good guy? Me too. I think real highly of him. I think he has some good things to say. She's definitely low-energy! Goofy Pocahontas has nothing going for her in life. All she had was some lie about being a Native American and she's been exposed." -The Donald, probably

She has the "good data", she gets to ignore major points and nitpick details and feign offense to assertions not even made...because she is right by virtue of her politics. Get with it man.

She is a SMUG Hypocritical buffoon in the mold of Nancy Pelosi...she just hasn't descended/ascended to organized crime...yet.

Kinda. And if you lie about it you get five years in prison.

Which is why voter fraud is practically nonexistent.

Fixed. But yeah, there are no reported cases of it having a meaningful effect in decades.

Can't be true. Earlier it was made clear that liberals are committing voter fraud like crazy and that's why they hate the ID laws. That's the irony. Didn't you see? Also, I'm a liar.

And we wonder why our country is so fucked up.

"Im supporting the tv personality because he does wicked burns on Twitter"

Very sophisticated of you.

Looks like we found the low-energy loser in the room.

That's not a good look for you dude, or the conservative/Republican party. His words and his twitter acct are precisely the reason we should NOT be voting for the fraud IMHO (aside for a host of other reasons).

Edit: You nust have been joking so I take it back if that is the case.

The Atlantic's Conor Friedersdorf just published an interview with a 22-year-old Trump supporter. Here's his takeaway from it:

My correspondent has come to believe that political correctness is transforming American culture in a way that puts his interests at odds with activists who are pursuing social justice and Hispanic immigrants who might benefit from affirmative action. His perception of these changes is causing him to engage in zero-sum thinking. If identity-based tribalism is America’s lot, he intends to vote his group interests, whereas he was previously inclined toward a more individualist ethic.

That shift alarms me.

Neither the pursuit of social justice nor immigration policy nor relations among people of different ethnicities are inherently zero sum in nature. Quite the contrary, if sound policies and social norms are in place. If there is an uptick in white people shifting from a liberal mindset to a tribal mindset, something has gone very wrong.

What?

The correspondent’s words track concerns I’ve aired before.

In The Federalist, David Marcus argues that anti-white rhetoric is fueling white nationalism. I’ve previously warned that “encouraging a focus on white identity is a dangerous approach for a country in which white supremacy has been a toxic force,” an admonition that applies to the right and left in different ways. And on the subject of “political correctness,” I’ve posited that citizens who oppose Trumpism should “take a careful look at everything that falls under the rubric of political correctness; study the real harm done by its excesses; identify the many parts that are worth defending; and persuade more Americans to adopt those norms voluntarily, for substantive reasons, not under duress of social shaming or other coercion.”

Today’s correspondent is just one voter. Future opinion polls will say much more about how typical Trump supporters relate to political correctness and white identity. If it turns out that there are a significant number of people who are reacting to social-justice shaming and rhetorical anti-whiteness by shifting from supporting campaigns like Gary Johnson 2012 to campaigns like Donald Trump 2016, what then?
