No one else seems to want to state it's Prince, just someone at his estate...

Never was a Prince fan, but appreciated his popularity. I remember when he was with Morris Day and the Time. Not sure if Morris influenced him or it was the other way around.

Jungle Love sure has a Prince feel to it.

They were friends and bandmates in high school.
Purple Rain the movie features quite a bit of Morris Day and the TIME!

Way to totally overshadow Chyna's death.

(Just a joke. Death is always sad. Respect to all friends, families, and loved ones.)

This is horrible news. Prince is one of my all time favorites. Not just a great performer, but also a brilliant song writer. He wrote songs like "Nothing Compares To You" and "Manic Monday" that made other artists stars as well.

My band is playing a gig tonight and I'm working on making Purple Rain or Darling Nikki our encore.

So bummed.

I remember when he hit the scene in the 70s, you could tell he had "it" even then. He was something of a flake but so very talented. I have an old friend in Florida who was a bigger fan of him than I was and while I haven't hear from him yet, I know he's tossed one back for Prince already. Didn't Vanity die earlier this year as well? Reunion concert?

I'm not heavily into celebrities in general but when it comes to musical artists from my younger days, this sort of thing hits home. This is up there with Glenn Frey and David Bowie for me.

Rest in peace, Purple One. Thanks for the memories.

^One of man's greatest mysteries:

Where did Prince's guitar go?

Really sad. A once in a generation kind of talent. Rare for someone to have both his level of musical talent and showmanship.

Guy was a legend and a big sports fan. Also appreciated that he continued to live in Minnesota. Just seemed more cool that he lived there and not L.A. or some place like that.

Clapton was once asked, "who is the best guitarist on the planet"? He responded, "I don't know, ask Prince".

Not to burst your bubble, but that's an old story that original started about Phil Keaggy.

Another version of the story has Hendrix being asked, "Jimi, how does it feel to be the world's greatest guitar player?" To which Hendrix supposedly replied, "I don't know, you'll have to ask Phil Keaggy!"

Lol. Literally just saw this in a Rory Gallagher Youtube video comment section:

Supposedly Jimi Hendrix was once asked by a reporter what it was like to be the greatest guitar player living today. Jimi's reply was "I don't know, why don't you ask Rory Gallagher."

I've heard/read Eric Clapton 'say' that about five different people over the years...
