Thanks guys, I did not know Maurice Stovall was coaching @ IMG........hopefully it helps us with Kaindoh, but, there's plenty of other kids from there that can do that as well!

I'm hoping that it's cumulative, and I don't see any reason that it wouldn't be.

Depends on how well he gets along with the kids.

Every coach at IMG is pretty much a former player/alum of a D1 school also. I would hesitate to guess also that having them try and sway a student to their alma mater is kind of a no-no as well

I loved me some Maurice Stovall. Guy went from average to being a stud in one season. It helped he had 83 and Quinn throwing him the ball but he was a got darn boss. Surprised he didn't get a shot at the NFL, if all goes well maybe he can take Bookers job =]

yup i went along to Detroit Lions training camp as a spectator in 2012 and I saw Maurice lining up opposite Megatron with Titus Young (remember him?) in the slot. Dude was a big unit.

Chapter 1

I am enjoying all of your war stories, all of you, but what do we need to do to get this kid?

Chapter 2

This kid appears to be an instant pass rush upgrade, which is particularly apropos for the Irish.
  • He doesn't play like he is in his 230's or 240's.
  • He doesn't stop.
  • He is particularly punitive with quarterbacks.
  • He seems to have awfully good technique already for a high school player.
  • He seems to have elite strength, speed, and something you cannot coach, size, both height, and length.
  • With that frame, 20 to 30 pounds off the bat is easy-peasy(-lemon-squeezy.)

My assumption is that these big time high schools have a bunch of players that go to other schools and also have coaches who played elsewhere, so when "Coney and Studstill" are in their ear, I put no weight into it because they have FSU players in their ear too.

Eh, I get your point, however, those other coaches don't come from anywhere near the pedigree of a Notre Dame. The closest after Stovall is their Defensive Coordinator, who played at Wisconsin. Of course, outside the coaching staff, there's Steve Walsh, from Thug U. I'd say that Stovall wouldn't be "swaying" him towards ND, but Kaindoh already has more than legitimate interest in ND, so it wouldn't surprise me if Stovall is just the guy who gives him that assurance that ND is the right place for him.

Sampson just posted a photo of him and Perry (old teammates at IMG) walking into practice.

Good Lord it would be amazing to have an elite HS talent DE commit to ND.

It would be amazing to have them sign and stay 3 years.

That's what I'd sell him. EE and leave for the League in 3 years with a Mendoza bachelors in your very full pockets just in case something happens. Then immediately introduce him to Jaylon so he cans see every possible outcome in one handshake.

If Kaindoh is 6'5 Spencer Perry must be massive. Can't wait to see that kid develop

Spencer does look good physically. Thought that the first time I saw him in uniform. However, it sounds like he's having a difficult time with his transitions at S and playing in space. Good news is, with him being an EE, he has a lot of time to improve before he's needed.

That's what I was thinking. Do you think LB for him?

I thought SAM linebacker from day 1 and I think he will outgrow the S spot. Honestly Spencer looks bigger Kaindoh. He's an SEC type athlete just plug him in somewhere and let him fly.

Just wonder how long there going to waste Perry at his 2nd best position in safety rather than LB.

I agree, it'll be interesting to see how long they'll keep him at S if he's not picking it up or to see how long before he picks it up, which one comes first?

Maybe he's just back there for body's for the spring? One the freshman arrive this summer maybe as he grows and continues to add size he moves into the linebacker spot. Not really worried about his play right now, gotta remember he's only a true freshman.

Plus, it's not like he's wasting time by being at S right now. Our LBs drop into coverage pretty often, and having experience running the defense from the back end could be helpful if he does make the move to LB. I thought Tranquill was going to follow that track though, so maybe the staff has other plans for Perry.
