Obviously the staff will harp on footwork, the playbook, gaining good weight -- I just wonder what they will do to fix the throwing motion. Tebow comes to mind. I know, Heisman trophy winner, National Champion...but that throwing motion was hideous. Devin Gardner never really got fixed either. I'm glad that he's going to have plenty of time to learn and I do have a ton of faith in Sanford (if he stays).

not sure BK would want another "Backyard" QB after having EG and seeing him try and play outside the confines of the playbook..

What is wrong with his motion? It's a high release. Avery Davis is the one that would need to redo his throwing motion out of the two. I don't think either motion is an issue for either player at the next level. Davis will just need to get the ball a little higher, but that's about it.

Hooker's throwing motion doesn't have the hitch Davis has in his and it's quick.

Avery Davis. Dips it low with a hitch.

My biggest hang-up is the throwing motion. I feel like if he cleans it up, bulks up and works on his footwork then yes, very high potential.

I understand.

Kind of like everyone's (legitimate also) hang up about DeShone Kizer.

Hooker's looks just like a baseball pitcher, as did Kizer's, which he was.

Per 247, Hooker is en route to ND with his father. I think this visit is happening now for a reason. If everything checks out, I'd expect him to be the next commit and maybe soon.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here but his dad Alan Hooker was a very good QB at NC A&T (Threw for over 6000 yds and is in the MEAC HOF) so he's had the benefit of that growing up.

Tape vs tape, background vs background, I still like Jack Sears a bit more but there's nothing not to like about what Hooker is athletically, where he is at in his game today and what his ceiling is.

The other thing that's out there that scares me is Braxton Burmeister is back on the market and that's another 6-0 QB that Sanford was tight with before he committed to Arizona last year. There's enough sub 6-3 QB's in South Bend already.

Per Anna, hooker very possible to commit this weekend and Davis next weekend as of now. ND would make room for both and Davis is ok with 2 qb right now.

To be fair I think it's a bit deceiving to post pictures of their throwing motions when they aren't in pads. If you watch Hooker in pads his motion basically starts at his ear and he then pushes the ball forward, flipping it ahead. He loses a lot of steam on his throws by not coming over the top. It can probably be corrected, and ND has the coach to do that - but it's ugly. Davis has much better arm action in his highlights although he consistently fails to drive off his back leg which makes his potential arm strength scary good.

The Opening in Dallas revealed a workout monster recruit from New Mexico, plus much more - SBNation.com

Avery Davis of Cedar Hill is a dual-threat whose skills don't show completely in this passing setting. I spoke with Davis about his upcoming trip to Notre Dame, as he is one of two passers the Irish have offered. "It's not a race. If that's the place for me, I'll have to go there and beat him out," Davis said. Colorado and Utah are running second. Davis wants to decide before the school year ends.

Sounds like Davis is expecting Hooker to commit as well.

Per both 247 and Rivals, no commitment was made and neither is hearing a silent was given. Both also think it could be him and his father just taking more time to think it over.

Offer Sears, Tagovailoa, Mond and Robinson if he doesn't commit by Wednesday.

While I like that group and most more so than Davis, it sounds like Davis is next in-line come this weekend. I still feel pretty confident that this visit was to get ahead of Davis's visit. So if Hooker doesn't commit this week, I'd expect Davis to over the weekend.

That list has nothing to do with Davis in my mind. If he was ok with Hooker committing before he got there then he's gonna be ok with the Irish adding a proper sized QB. Book and Davis (only) back to back is not what this program needs. Davis has the athletic ability to do other things to get on the field like so many good, undersized QB's in HS do in college. He's a take all day long. I'd just want two in this class if Davis is involved. The only thing that would make me change my mind is if Phil Jurkovec was coming in '18 and that's not guaranteed even if he committed tomorrow.

Does anyone else see Davis as a Slot receiver?

That's what I've been preaching. He can always do that. He'll never rot away on the bench at ND. He could end up being the Damian Alloway I always wanted who also moonlights as the 6th through 3rd string QB over the course of his career..

Loy throwing quite a bit of cold water on this. Didn't get a very good feeling from his sources. Potential drawbacks could be the distance traveled versus the length of the stay. As well as distance from family for his college of choice. Mom made the trip with them. Keep in mind that none of this has quotes from Hendon or his father

So possibly one last visit and then a decision likely soon. This on the heals of a visit to ND where our resident recruiting guru who CBs everyone to ND is not feeling this. Where is he thinking he commits?

He will call it off if he is not coming here.

If recruiting was a game of horseshoes or hand grenades, we'd be kicking ass this year.

The resident recruiting guru hasn't spoken to Hooker or his family either.

the issue seemed to be 12hr drive there and back not giving them enough time really to take in everything...ND did everything they could according to what loy said but he thinks the distance really factored into everything...he is close with his mom and not sure he will be able to leave the nest that far

"Coach Kelly told me I'm the guy he wants," Hooker said. "He told me he wants me to help get a statue of him in front of the stadium. That was big that I'm of that value to them."

BK TOLD HIM WE ARE ONLY TAKING 1 QB

"They have a rich tradition," Hooker said. "It was real cold in Indiana. It was real regular."

He had glowing things to say about VT and is even going back

Anna thinks ND would be surprised if they got him. Basically the same as stated above.
