I say send one of the assistants down to camp out at the McDonalds close to his school. He's bound to stop in. Wasn't it Saban a couple of years ago who happened to run into a recruit while in LA?

I'm sure Longo would jump at the opportunity.

You want a source to explain how he's worked his ass off and academics are important?

Just :

To explain what proof you have that he actually 'worked his ass off.'

Understanding that hard work is no substitute for smart work.

And that academics are important is more than just lip service. *

* I know, I know. But we really won't know for sure until we see what college or university he attends, will we?

I get what you're saying. I imagine it will be about 10x worse than what USC felt after Hayes signed his paperwork only to decommit and EE at ND. I really don't think the kid ends up at ND, so my hopes aren't up personally. I imagine he's benig pulled in a million different directions:

1. He knows he wants Stanford, but can't get in. He's still trying to get that test score and to me it would be a total shocker if he didn't go to Stanford after all the work/stress/time.

2. He's already got a green light to ND from admissions from multiple sources. Football scholly or no, the kid isn't a complete slouch in the classroom. He knows the degree at ND is strong at ND but it's not his first choice. He doesn't have the same desire for ND. It's not shocking to me that a kid can value academics and still value UGA or Bama over ND.

3. His family and friends are all in the South. His mother, his sister, his brothers. They're all telling him different things. Not to mention every Tom, Dick and Harry that stops him on the street.

You have to at least respect the fact that he's sticking to his guns, trying to get into his first choice and using every avenue to ensure that he's exhausted all options before he ends up at his fallback school.

I get what you're saying, but point one is unprovable, until he starts classes on the farm.

Parts of point two may be true, but some is so bent around (not by you) that it is meaningless.

Who knows what they are saying? It could be as simple as, "You are such a fuckup, we will make the decision for you; now do we have a bid of 175? 175 . . . 175 . . . 180!"

How about that he's done enough work to get into ND? Even as a football player you know that has to count for something. How about retaking the SAT and raising his score 50 points? How about doing that work in the class while balancing his diet/workouts/other extracurriculars? You can't hold ND players to a higher standard than a kid that keeps trying to get into Stanford and could already be ND if he wanted. I like to think that all of the ND kids are special in that they did more than the casual D1 football player. I guess thinking isn't proof and it's possible the kids at ND coasted though school I just don't find it very likely. Kind of like - I bet Jennifer Anniston looks great naked. I've never seen her nude, but she definitely looks better than say, your average Jane.

I click on the thread hoping to see some concrete news not stupid speculation. Sadly I have been disappointed up to now.

if there is actually any solid news it would be all over ever CFB website/twitter etc. Do people actually use IE as their primary source of recruiting news??

I don't have a problem with you, or really any single thing you are saying.

On the contrary I agree with most of it.
And that is patented Bogs un-intuition!

What I am attempting is to present another case, or possibility, simply because this recruitment belongs on the shelf as a Twilight Zone episode, with a special Rod Sterling introduction :

My point is simple, there is too much that doesn't fit, for everything we 'know' or that the experts 'tell us' to be true. If you look at the list you made, or my response there is enough between the two to show that any single piece of what we know could be true, or as easily false. We cannot take a single thing as gospel.

Actually for ND news and recruiting stuff I do just come here, why bother searching it out elsewhere? I know call me crazy for going to an ND message board for ND news. I guess I'm old fashioned.

so much easier to just create a twitter account on your phone and follow like 5-10 ND beat writers/recruitniks

Would take you like 30 seconds per day to get all the recruiting intel you need.

I find it hard to believe folks would be clicking on IE recruit threads to find out info, half the time threads are updated with non relevant info/off topic stuff etc

I do Twitter, but it's too impersonal.

IE gives me info and entertainment...

Not everyone has a need or desire to find out the instant it occurs. If I find out immediately or an hour later, it doesn't change anything.

I didn't follow recruiting of every school. Of the four schools being considered, who has room for him without pulling a scholarship?

Is the SAT like the ACT where D1 athletes can take it over and over, and their best score in each subject can be 'saved' and used together to get the best score?

So if you take it once and get 20 math, 25 science, 20 english, 25 reading....

Take it again and get 25 math, 15 science, 25 english, 10 reading...

So you get 25 math, 25 science, 25 english, 25 reading? I assume so since he continues to retake it expecting a better score.
