Still waiting to see these insane hops

Besides both being from Philly and basically the same size I don't see a single similarity. Maybe it's just me

Not sure if Marvin Harrison is the most accurate comparison, but then again I didn't see Harrison play that much

Living in Indy and being a Colts fan I saw pretty much every game Marvin played. I've mentioned it before that Will reminds me of Marvin. Will's hands don't compare to Marvin's, but his speed and the ease that he comes out of breaks remind me of Marvin as does his ability to simply run past defenders.

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Will Fuller

NFL COMPARISON Ted Ginn, Jr.

BOTTOM LINE
Fuller doesn't check all the boxes with his slight frame, below average hands and limitations with his game-*by*-game production, but he possesses the coveted ability to hit the big play and score touchdowns. My grade might be higher than some, but Fuller has the type of functional speed that can win deep and free teammates up in the intermediate passing game. Look for Fuller to come in and contribute early on as a third receiver.

I heard a stat that Ted Ginn's drop rate on deep routes is something like 66%. Will's can't be that high, can it?

No way. He's money deep. It's the ones right at him that he muffs. I think it was me and Whiskey that thought maybe it's a mental thing that a sports psychologist couldn't fix.

I would think it's hard to react in time and haul in a catch when you use your body a lot for receptions. Maybe that's why he struggles more on the short routes.

Ginn dropped A LOT fewer passes in college than Fuller. Looked at from that perspective, it's not good for Fuller. But there are probably plenty of receivers that have come out of college with questions about their hands, who have excelled in the NFL. So looking at it that way, nothing to worry about.

He is just not a natural plucker and has weak hands. He will have time in the pros to work on them.

I don't know, I've never stood with him at a jugs machine before. He clearly lacks a lot of confidence in catching the ball with his hands, thats why he jumps to body catch the ball. He's made some great catches with his hands before, so I don't think its entirely that. Probably a little of both but mostly mental.

yup...Michigan catch 2014 tells you alot about his hands when he has no other choice, or isn't waiting for it...totally mental...totally fixable.

There are also a lot who had issues with catching in college and had the same issues in the pro's : Darious Heyward Bey, Troy Williamson etc

It may simply be thinking too much. When Pierre Garcon played for the Colts, he was known for his highlight catches. Throw it to high, wide, etc. and he amazingly would catch it, even with one hand. Throw it right in his hands and he'd drop it. Redskin fans would know if he's still that way or improved.

There's a couple of the most beautiful touchdown receptions from this year. Text book high pointing of the ball with his hands out.

A receiver can't catch every single pass with perfect form. Fuller should be criticized for some drops this past season but acting like he catches everything with his chest is not only completely false but just a super weird thing to nit pick when he made a lot amazing catches this year with just his hands.

You're clutching at smaller straws with each post.

First he wasn't very good and can easily be passed by unnamed others. He catches the ball with his chest but Rocket provides visible proof to the contrary. Now he needs the jug machine despite a record setting season.

Now you've morphed your arguement into Fuller being the "our #1 WR for the next few years" I'm sorry I though he was to be easily surplanted? Which is it?

"He is our best route runner" ... and ... "creates the best separation" WOW that kinda sounds like the dare I say it, #1 WR!

And as for your hypothetical 4th and 5, everybody in the stadium knows the ball is going to be thrown high to Robinson in that situation. And that's why I would have the QB pump fake to Robby and hit Fuller for the score.

According to Rocket and BGIF we have visual proof that Fuller can catch the ball away from his body. Maybe the scouts should read a portion of this thread so they can make a proper evaluation on Fullers hands.

I don't think this is a complicated thing. He's probably got small-average sized hands and isn't very strong. If it was a mental thing, he'd drop the bombs that are softer, like Tedd Ginn. He drops the harder passes that require strong hands.

Will was probably a lot more open than Teddy was.

would be interested to see how well he'd catch the deep ball when he's blanketed by a NFL corner/safety

I'm no pro...but I see Will differently.

Mental issues are far from an every play thing, and far from expressed the same way because their origin is different...TGJr. had ball panic. Thats not necessarily Will.

...I've seen Will drop balls of varying types...hard, soft. Some of it I hang on a 20 year old kid having some focus to completion issues...typical. Some of it...I see in him an approach issue. By that I mean ...you see a ball in the air, and you place it in a zone in your catch radius before it ever gets there...if it is going to be in a zone you are less comfortable with you try and compensate...the jump body trap, and a number of other things...What Will has shown me is, when he has to run a ball down his athleticism is great and hands are pretty damn good.... when he has to wait, or come back at the ball...his front high radius makes him uncomfortable...so he fights the ball some...or traps it. I'd tend to think he has a couple areas in his catch radius he hates...and that messes with him...he'll have the time at the next level to learn to love them...:).

To me working through all your hitches inside your catch radius is a mental thing...

I agree with this. But the combine measurements will confirm.

We are really going to miss him. I hope we have players chomping at the bit to fill the massive void Fuller is leaving in our offense production.

A lot of outlets have the Bengals taking Corey Coleman or Josh Doctson in the first round...

I hope they go with Fuller instead. Same skill set that Marvin Jones has, which is a perfect compliment to AJ Green. The only difference is that Jones is a big bigger, whereas Fuller is a bit faster.

(Corey Coleman has the same skill set, but I want the homer pick.)
