I think people are losing their shit because these guys aren't anything like the #BLM #OWS crowd.

...just wandering how much time and effort will be expended to understand why these people feel the way they do...and therefore act out like this? Hours and hours of media and academic attention were given BLM and OWS...to understand them...I'd suggest media and academia actually tried to help them come up with a coherent "beef" or two. Yea, I'd guess that isn't what these guys are into. I don't think they'll prevent a single business from operating, and may increase revenues for some while they do their thing. They are actually concerned about things we should all be concerned about...I think they are many times misguided and misunderstand things, but I think you are going to see more and more of this stuff as people try to hammer back Federal participation in land issues within state and local boundaries...The Fed is a really bad forestry neighbor...never clears his deadfall, and then turns into a dick when you do it for him...maybe not the case here...sounds like these men were into nefarious crap...but I won't be shocked if this turns into an issue of the fire going apeshit because the adjacent federal land was not well stewarded...The guys who set the fire for sure deserve time...but anxious to see all the details come out.

A protest is people camped out along the side of the road holding signs up; not people taking over a government facility, brandishing firearms, and then inviting every other brain dead malcontent with a gun to come join them.

I don't think anyone is showing up with a "movement" and a fake catch phrase anytime soon...nor is anyone particularly doubtful that someone from the bundy crowd did something stupid, and caused the shooting to start...I'm pretty sure none of those Federal Agents wanted to be there, and I still contend that no cop wants to kill anyone, but when faced with a situation where he/she is concerned about going home to their own family...I suspect they pick that overwhelmingly...I guess maybe don't put cops in such a position, and you'll likely live. Shrug.

(CNN)The armed protesters occupying a wildlife refuge in Oregon have been surrounded, the FBI said on Wednesday.

According to the FBI, one of the remaining occupiers rode outside barricades at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. When agents tried to approach him, he sped off back to the refuge.

After that the agency said agents "moved to contain the remaining occupiers by placing agents at barricades both immediately ahead of and behind the area where the occupiers are camping."

The FBI said no shots were fired and it is continuing to negotiate with those inside the refuge.

Four people are believed to be still occupying the refuge.

"The FBI has negotiated with patience and restraint in an effort to resolve the situation peacefully," said Greg Bretzing, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. "However, we reached a point where it became necessary to take action in a way that best ensured the safety of those on the refuge, the law enforcement officers who are on scene, and the people of Harney County who live and work in this area."
